Alderon Games revealed that it had observed a nearly 100% failure rate of Raptor Lake processors in its own testing. Telemetry from end customers reports thousands of Raptor Lake CPUs crashing in customers' gaming PCs. Alderon Game's own development systems utilizing Raptor Lake CPUs also suffer from frequent instability, leading to SSD and memory corruption. On top of this, the studio's dedicated game servers leveraging Raptor Lake parts experience "constant crashes" to the point where they are taking entire servers down.

Too Long Didn't Watch (TL:DW version)
- Intels failure rates on their Core i7, i9 13th and 14th gen CPUs are estimated to be around 10-15%, maybe even higher in the +25% range. (i.e. for each 4 Intel CPUs bought, one is faulty)

- Can still affect lower-end Intel CPUs but not as likely and even then there are other much more common bugs affecting these lower-end chips that can be patched with an update as evidenced by this article.

- Something is degrading these CPUs as their crashes get more frequent over time and it's not related to overclocking as even conservative server motherboards tuned for stability running 13900Ks and 14900Ks at stock (or below stock) settings are getting these same crashes and higher failure rates the longer they run. So much so that system integrators are charging up to a 900% support premium for using 13th and 14th i9 CPUs in servers over Xeons or Ryzen CPUs.

- It is not related to e-cores as the 12900K is mostly unaffected, and disabling them doesn't prevent or stop the crashes. No BIOS update currently fixes it, and is most likely a hardware issue.

- The CPUs themselves have something wrong with them. If the motherboards also have problems then it's related to the chipsets for this socket as a whole not just a specific motherboard. Intel either doesn't know what is causing these crashes, or they do know but don't want to admit that it is a hardware fault affecting a sizable portion of 13th and 14th gen i9s (possibly i7s and lower too) and is not fixable by a simple firmware update or BIOS tweaking. Their solution is to just replace the CPU and hope the new one works according to system integrators.

BNM will require a co-payment option in health insurance by this Sept at a minimum 5%, no cap stated.

For example, if an insured patient receives an RM50,000 hospital bill, a 5% co-payment means the patient has to pay RM2,500 in cash out of pocket, despite having regularly paid premiums.

Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying told the Dewan Rakyat special chambers last July 1 that BNM's new co-payment policy is aimed at incentivising “more responsible usage of health care services” to reduce costs on insurance providers, citing medical inflation and the “buffet table syndrome” as the main drivers of a rise in health insurance premiums.

In response, the Galen Centre for Health and Social Policy points out that no one wants to get a chronic illness like kidney failure, cardiovascular disease, or cancer just to utilise their insurance coverage.

“By introducing a co-payment feature which will eventually replace existing products, insured patients could face large out-of-pocket payments beyond their means in the case of a major illness,” says Galen Centre CEO Azrul Mohd Khalib.

“Ironically, it could create the very situation which individuals expect to be protected from by having health insurance.”

The Galen Centre expects people to cancel their health insurance policies with the introduction of co-payments and go to the public health care system instead, thus increasing demand on already overloaded government hospitals and health care clinics.

“Is Bank Negara’s new policy requirement ultimately going to be of more benefit to insurers and private hospitals, rather than patients and their families?”

The requirement for insurers to offer health insurance products with a co-payment option at the point of sale by Sept 1 doesn't just apply to new products, but also renewal of existing medical and health insurance/ takaful policies or certificates.

Inkambing your insurance remains same price with renewal on Sept 2024, but changes to co-payments out of your own pocket. Or big price increase in Sept 2024 but remain on existing no co-payments insurance plan

Third KK Super Mart outlet attacked with Molotov cocktail

April 1, 2024 (The Star) - A KK Super Mart outlet in Kuching has been attacked with a Molotov cocktail, the third such attack on the convenience store chain.

Kuching OCPD Asst Comm Ahsmon Bajah said the attack occurred on Sunday (March 31).

"The complainant said that a glass bottle filled with kerosene was thrown at some boxes placed at the five-foot-way of the shop," he said in a statement on Monday (April 1).

This is the third attack on KK Super Mart outlets nationwide.

The first incident was at an outlet at Bidor, Tapah on March 26 and the second in Sungai Isap, Kuantan on March 29.

Another KK Mart outlet firebombed, this time in Kuantan - Free Malaysia Today

30 Mar 2024 - Another KK Mart has been attacked with a petrol bomb. The incident took place in Kuantan, Pahang, early this morning.

Kuantan police chief Wan Zahari Wan Busu said the 5am incident at the outlet in Sungai Isap caused several items on display at the front of the store to be set alight, Malaysiakini reported.

An initial investigation showed that the perpetrator may have thrown the petrol bomb from a distance to avoid being caught by the store’s security cameras.

MOSCOW, March 22 (Reuters) - At least 40 people were killed and 145 wounded on Friday when camouflage-clad gunmen fired with automatic weapons on concertgoers near Moscow in one of the deadliest attacks on Russia in decades.

Islamic State (ISIS), the militant group that once sought control over swathes of Iraq and Syria, claimed responsibility for the attack, the group's Telegram channel said.

At least five gunmen began shooting civilians cowering in the Crocus City Hall just before Soviet-era rock group "Picnic" was about to perform to a full house at the 6,200-seat theatre in a suburb west of Moscow.

The death toll made it one of the worst attacks on Russia since the 2004 Beslan school siege, when Islamist militants took more than 1,000 people, including hundreds of children, hostage.

Not to mention temperatures of 49.1°C is wild, you can now burn your fingers while on Genshin Impact.

Geekerwan said that longer testing (for battery life metrics) is still under embargo for the OnePlus Ace 3V, so we will have to wait until after March 18 for a more comprehensive review of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3.

I personally prefer if smartphone manufacturers focus on bringing up the battery life and bringing down power consumption of their devices and not make 7+ Gen 3 perform like a 8 Gen 3 without the benefits of 8 Gen 3.

The US economy is so strong that there might not be any rate cuts in 2024

After more than 20 months of inflation and higher borrowing costs, investors, economists and — eventually — Federal Reserve officials said they expected the economy to soften this year, allowing the central bank to finally start cutting rates.

But those expectations of a Fed pivot keep getting pushed back. While the market initially expected six rate cuts this year, starting in March, that’s now off the table.

The economy is not slowing down and some underlying measures of inflation are growing, said Torsten Slok, chief economist at Apollo Global Management, in a note to investors Friday.

“The Fed will not cut rates this year and rates are going to stay higher for longer,” he added.

Richmond Federal Reserve President Tom Barkin echoed the idea that the central bank may not cut interest rates this year.
