Pulled The Plug

I have earlier booked the iX and pending delivery which was supposed to be Q3 or Q4. With the launch of Tesla and the feature set coming from a ground up EV and of cos the pricing, I decided to pull the plug on the iX and went with Model Y LR with upgrades of Red Paint, White Interior and Wheels. Hope i made the right choice but the decision boils down to pricing and features that comes with Tesla and no doubts i would miss the luxury and comfort that is iX.

Ang Pow in Singapore

I have been invited to attend a chinese wedding in Singapore. Need some guidance on ang pow value that should be given since it is held in one of the prestigious hotels in SG. Also would i be expected to give SG notes or equivalent in RM would do. I rather be safe and ask here even if it might be noob rather than offending the host. TIA!

DASH Experience

Was thinking of trying only tonight but saw this morning it would save me 7 mins comparing my usual NKVE route (leave home at 6.30am) so decided to give it a shot. Overall the highway is build well except for some areas where there are debris/sand which i assume they would clean up. Road condition is ok with minor observations of bumps in certain areas.

Key notes to drivers, watch your speed as there are some sharp turns and keep eyes on signage as some interchanges could get confusing with lane mergings. Hazard as you exit into Penchala as the turnoff is abrupt with fast traffic coming from right and merge lane is short (potential lepak spot for Abang Tarik)...

Life Insurance Policy

Folks, I am searching for insurance policy with coverage of RM 1M upon death (no healtcare benefit). My current health policy I believe is sufficient which pays RM 250k annually until age 70. Reason for this 1M policy is in case anything happens to me, my wife doesnt have to worry about paying for the house and cars (currently valued at RM 870k based on remainder of loan for one house and two cars).

I got quote from Pru for monthly contribution of RM 1,500 to be paid until age 60 and covers up to 70 years of age with CI coverage of RM 500k. Wondering if there are other better options out there that i should get quote from?

Business Idea

I have an idea for service based app similar to grab food/grab panda and there is a potential for it to be disruptive based on the concept behind the implementation. Due to my work nature, i do not have insights into the inner workings of mobile app or what is required to get it up and running.

Industries have MDEC or MITI where entrepreneurs could go and engage them and they will guide thru on what is required, heard that for tech based entrepreneurs, MAGiC was the right avenue but dont know if they are still relevant following the new government directive.

Please assist and any guidance would be appreciated as after working for other organisations close to 20 years and being contented, i would like to unfold the next journey venturing into unknown, gutsy and daring seeing that i am extremely secure in my employment but with greater risk comes greater rewards and hopefully a much more luxurious future for my family.

Japan Auction Report

I am planning to buy a recond vehicle and never bought a recond before in my life. Saw on fb Alphard/Vellfire group that you could visit Japan True Report website to get the auction inspection sheet which will state car actual mileage/condition/external and interior grading etc. This has worked well as prior to paying deposit, i managed to avoid buying 2-3 cars rated R.

Recently visited another seller and funny enough, all his Vellfire stock can never be found on True Report, while the Alphards all have. He kept convincing that not all cars would have etc etc but there has been never a miss before. He has one unit of a beauty and i wouldnt want to miss it just cause there is such a thing as 'no report for some vehicles'.

He is seller so of course he would do all he can to sell, need some guidance from much more experienced purchasers if my assumption is correct that if a car has no true report, avoid it at all cost.

So i have this relative of mine, a nephew to be precise, for the last 2 years dont know he butthurt which part of my life that suddenly ignored me and my wife etc, probably thinking that we had something to do with his divorce, which was a result of him kelentong and act all highty mighty with the gal's side saying he is well accomplished men (successful businessman konon tapi uni degree pun tarak, kereta mercedes from the bygone era)

Recently in family gathering started talking about BN and i finally had it when he speak like know-it-all to keep family gathering clean of politic talk (not like he is some ADUN kawasan, then i dont mind giving him campaigning airtime)... he suddenly start going berserk that why last time can talk politic but now cannot... so i snapped la... i said "sad state of the country that the greatest political analyst are either busy becoming barbers or delivering grab food".... *mic drop and walk out*

TLDR version: "accomplished" businessman coming close to 30 years old and career of grab food rider wanna confront his uncle got schooled

I start off mine with the best offer of 2.4% (7 years) and 2.5% (9 years). RHB could better that by 2.3% but there is a gamble, it is a flexi sort of loan which means if the BLR goes up, so does your repayment...

GST Abolishment

Tun M was asked about reduction of GST and he said, no reduction, but abolishment instead and the reporter continued asking would there be a tax to replace. Tun M indicated that Malaysia will go back to Sales and Service Tax (SST).

That being said, is there an expert or person with knowledge could advise if it is better to buy the car now with GST of 6% or would it be better to wait when the SST is reintroduced? I tried finding online and the taxation rate is not very clear. I am looking at buying a brand new car.

Please help me guys, my dream vehicle has always been a Harrier but the new Turbo version is ridiculously priced by UMW. Based on poll above, here's my contemplation factors...

Harrier - Recond and not sure if there could be major issues that might end up having me spend and total comes close to new turbo harrier!
Mazda - warranty capped at 100,000km which i could easily reach in 3 years and that damn arm rest that does not adjust forward
CRV - wife already drives the one-gen before the current latest gen. two CRVs in a house... hmmm...

Alternative is i fork a big chunk on deposit so my repayment for the new Harrier Turbo is below the RM 1.5K i set for any car i go for but 259k for a TOYOTA... sigh... I am a big size guy thus telling me to get new BMW 330e (RM 258k) might not be it...

Foreign Maid Online

The government announced (Immigration) that to assist households in MY, foreign maid application can now be submitted online at MAID Online

Our conversation with the agencies (spoke to 4 different providers) indicated that countries like Phil has not agreed to this arrangement and there is NO WAY that employers can bring in their maid thru this, short of saying that government "syok sendiri" and there is no consensus with the source countries. Is this a ploy by the agencies or has somebody experienced this first hand. Please share.
