Wrong Upgrade?

Dear Sifus,

My PC runs with a AMD phenom 9650 black edition + Radeon HD 4870 + 6GB ram + 620W. Recently decided to upgrade my GPU as I really wanted to enjoy Shogun 2 and Starcraft 2 in the fullest. I ended up with Radeon 7770 rapor-x under recommendation from Viewnet. Unfortunately the result was not significant as Shogun 2 failed to run smooth on ultra.... I hate to spend money and not getting the result I wanted. My questions:

1. Is Radeon 7770 the most optimum GPU for my current rig? Any recommendation?
2. Was it a mistake to upgrade the GPU instead of CPU which will give more rooms for future GPU upgrade? If yes, what would be your recommendation for CPU?
3. Will Viewnet accept a different product exchange? I only bought the GPU yesterday.

I am setting my budget to RM1000 for this upgrade.

Thank you for reading and do help out if possible!

Huge Maintenance Fee Hike

As per topic, I just received my key for my new condo mid of last year. As per S&P, the next phase of maintenance fee was supposed to be RM0.23psf. However, the developer recently issue us a letter and inform us that the rate will be revised to RM0.36psf. The explanation given during the recent meeting was as below:

1. The condo was planned on 2006, so maintenance fee calculation was actually based on 2006, not 2012. Hence, they have to increase the rate to sustain the condo maintenance.

2. We were informed that the land was a residential land, and the electricity budget for the maintenance fee planning back then was based on residential rate. However, they now inform us that TNB is charging us based on commercial rate (almost 50% extra compared to residential rate) due to the property being a "High End Condo". This causes our actual electricity to be 4-5 times higher over the budget.

This is my first house purchase and I just can't believe I need to fork out so much money just for the maintenance fee alone. Even there is no denying that the maintenance was expected to be more expensive (considering it was a low density condo), deep down in my hear I felt CHEATED. How the hell can they tell us that the costing was based on 2006 when they know clearly that the occupancy will only happen 3-4 years down the road, which they should have allow some provision to cover the pontential increase in cost. Worst of all, how can they tell us the electricity rate was based on residential tariff and now turn around and say "I'm sorry but our proposal was rejected by TNB".

Please advise if there is anything I can do about this. The S&P did mention that the management have the right to amend the maintenance fee if necessary. But with such a big increase, it's just way too expensive now....

Working in Sime Darby

Just curious, any forumer here working in Sime Darby? I have heard a lot about GLC companies but I don't really have an idea about the pros and cons. Basically I'll be starting myself in their management trainee program. The fact is that I've resigned from a executive post and 'downgrade' myself to a trainee with only training allowance paid. So, I will be 'pok kai' for the next 6 months with so little money to survive. Anyway if anyone here happen to work or have friends working in it please share the experience with me. Thanks!

Sapphire ATI x1650XT

Hi people,

This will be an intersting thing to hear but a painfull experience for me. Ok here's my story, I bought a PCI Sepphire x1650XT 256MB DDR3 from Viewnet just a few days ago. During the installation, my monitor just couldn't receive any signal even though the display cable was plugged. So the next day I brought it back to the shop and ask them y I can't get it installed. They checked for me and told me my card was defective, so they replace me with a new one. Anyway I was afraid that same thing might happen again so I asked them to install and try for me just in case. So I wait... wait... wait (it was Sunday). Guess what they told me this time, "your motherboard cannot support this card". I asked why but they say DUNNO. I was like WTF?! In the end, I hv to go to lowyat again in 1 week time to get a refund cos I left the cover box at home.....

Ok my motherboard model is GA-M51GM-S2G with NVIDIA(R) Geforce 6100 + nForce 430 chipset. I'm really pissed off for now cause I just don't understand why my motherboard can't accept it. Is it because it comes with an internal GF card? Gosh... I want to get an x1650 cause it seems to be the best card I can get with my budget, so in case I really have to change another 1, can u guys recommend me something? Anyway thx for reading this post, help will be much appeciated...
