I just got a call from stranger phone number, he pretending to be my friend and looking for me by calling my short-form name; but when I ask who he is, he keep saying "aiyoh I remember you but why you forget me blah blah..."
The conversation goes on and he keep beating around the bush, then the call dropped eventually, I can't get back to him anymore.
From this conversation, he get to know my name tie to which phone number, nothing else.

My question are, what did he gain by doing this?
Any scammer should can easily buy a while identity list from anywhere, they no need personally verify the authenticity one by one right?
what can a person do by getting info of name and phone number?

Budget CAD laptop

Hi Guys,
Need recommendation of budget CAD laptop.
Minimum requirement:
- Nvidia Quadro, lowest range acceptable
- ECC Ram, don't need to be fast, just need upgradeable to 32GB

The rest, depend on how I budget, I haven't fix it yet.
Been browsing Dell or HP Malaysia website and yet I can't seems to find any laptop with Nvidia Quadro.

If you guys got any website selling CAD laptop in Malaysia can let me know also, I can slowly browse by myself.

Bank tied my account to other transaction services

As per tittle, my bank just tied my account to other online transaction service without my authority, and give me a time line to opt out.

I know i can just spend 5 minutes to go online to opt out (waste so much time to solve all the "i am not a robot" shit )
But to tie my account into other transaction without my authority is still wrong and potentially a security exploit.

Who should i complaint to?
Is MCMC a proper channel?

215/45 R17 budget tyre recommendation

Guys, pls recommend me 215/45 R17 tyre, budget about not more than RM300/pcs.
My needs: safety first, everything else later, but still must keep within budget.

My current set of PS3 going to fully worn off soon, and I am looking for a new car.
Since this current car maybe not going to stay with me for very long time; so I am now looking for a budget tyre, about RM300/pcs, or RM1200 full set.

Maybe after I pull the trigger for new car then I will instantly put PS4 or Assy3 on it like what I do last time (hehehe...), but now i just want something to accompany me until then.

Just now I had a chat over phone with a recruiter, after all the talking about job offering, the last thing she ask me this question.
So I just frankly answer, for my case is yes an interview coming in next few days then we end the call.
Now I am thinking, will my answer make the recruiter lost interest?

If you being asked the same question, to keep recruiter interest on you, should you tell them yes or no?
(Regardless you have interview actually coming or not, I am more care about maintaining recruiter interest.)

Hi guys, anybody seen some pop out thing like attached picture that cover whole Android screen while using phone?

Currently I am seeing this frequently, and I can't trace which apps caused this, can't even take screenshot also. some time it's show advert rather than setting, try switch apps then it's gone and cannot trace back.

If anybody can tell me which apps caused this I will get rid if it asap.

Maxis new mobile plan

- 5GB data (all time, no day/night/weekend/weekday difference)
- No contract period
- unlimited (?!!!) local call

Anybody use this plan or receive this offer from maxis?

Force not to boot from USB

Hi, how to force my pc for not to boot from USB?

TL,DR:
My 2.0GB external HDD just died, I always boot my PC with external HDD already on before this.
Now I am using a new 3.0 external HDD, but my PC will not boot into windows when the external HDD is on, it will show some error message.
So now I need to log into windows first, then only switch on my external HDD after that, which is 1 more step to do whenever I boot my PC.
I already go bios to disable all other boot option except SATA, still my PC will display error message when external HDD is on while boot.
hence, help please.

size 215/45 R17, been hunting for few shop in during last weekend.
Non of the shop carry this tyre, they say is expensive they don't keep stock bla bla...
asked them to order for me, until now not even 1 of them call back, haih...
if michellin ps3 yes there are stock, but i want to try new brand.

how to force shutdown

hi guys,

my asus laptop is in "shutting down..." since yesterday, how to force shut it down?
been pressing power button for more than 1 minutes it wont budge, wana remove battery but its sealed in casing, removed power cable it will just go to sleep, after 1 day wakeup still in "shutting down..."

is there anyway to force it shut down? like pressing any button combination?

On-wheel balancing around JB area

Hi, can anybody recommend me workshop for on-wheel balancing around JB area?

I having steering vibrate while driving 110kmh+, current sc that normally servicing my car can't do that anymore because they claim their machine breakdown, so i need to find another workshop.

off topic: normal cheapo on-machine wheel balancing only workable up to 80kmh, so the technician said, is it true?

gear knob push back by itself

i have a habit to rest my hand on gear knob while driving. just that the gear knob will self push back when i step the throttle a little too much. example like in 3th gear, suppose the gear knob will lean to front, but when i put my hand on it, i felt the knob being pushed to center. movement of gear knob hard to observe by naked eyes, but my hand tell me there is obvious force pushing gear knob.

so my question is:
1. is this normal for manual transmission?
2. is it ok to rest my hand on gear knob? seem like my hand is applying unwanted force to counter the direction of gear knob ''nature(??)'' movement.

opera not showing full url

after using opera 10 for longggg time, recently just hand itchy upgraded to opera 11.01. under unknown circumstances, somehow this new version didn't show the full url in address bar, only shows the url main webpage

float dropped in petrol tank

my wira-97-MT petrol level sensor has been spoiled for quite a while, couple of years or maybe. i have been refer to trip mileage meter to know when to refill sine then. finally today i nbtd go change the petrol level sensor, in the workshop, the foreman take out the sensor, found out there is sumthing missing. after compare with the new sensor, we know the float (together with arm attached) is missing, should be left in the tank. foreman tell me that if wana take it out must dismantle the whole petrol tank, will have to charge extra and take fewwww hours. i think since the thing should be dropped for very long period oledi and my car is still alive until now, so i just ask him to put the new sensor and seal everything back.

heres my question, if theres no space monster ate the float, it should still be sumwhere in my petrol tank, will there be any serious issue if i just left the float inside?

windows live massenger problem

hi, i having problem at my current windows live messenger chat windows where i can't change font.
no matter whichever font i choose, it will display courier new, on my own chat winow and my chat partner window.
i already tried reinstall live messenger but font is still the same.
how can i solve this? or is there any additional file/registry i need to remove after uninstall / before reinstall?

spec: as below
messenger version: 2009 build (14.0.8089.726)
default language: english united states
tried change font in word and excel, is working fine

NIS2009 problem

Hi, I facing problem occur while moving file which size>100MB, popup window will show: discovering 0 items, file size 0, time remaining 0 …… then wait forever the file cannot be move.

This only happen after I install Norton internet security 2009. Before my nis2008 subscription end, I receive a “free upgrade” from nis2008 to nis2009, the online upgrade size is around 100MB, after upgrade I face this problem, revert back to nis2008 problem gone.

Now my nis2008 subscription ended, I (my family) purchase nis2009, this time the cd size is 300MB I though there will be different, but still, after install nis2009 from cd, problem back again. I wish to use my nis2009 key on nis2008, but cannot.

How to I solve this problem? Is there anything I need to set in nis2009? Or my (family) money spend on a piece of crap?

How to work on my own pc as administrator

I am (still) new to vista here. Every time I try to edit old file from my old ext hdd, I cannot save the file, it show either path is not correct, access denied, no permission, blah blah... I need to save a new copy of the file somewhere else then replace back at original location.
Example of what I try to do like: edit text file using notepad, edit mp3 info using winamp or any other file usinf any other program, all cannot save and replace the original file at original location, must save new copy somewhere else, then cut & paste to replace to original location. Everytime replace the file vista user account control will pop out to ask my permission.

The problem can be solve by select the file, right click > property > security > ‘users(my-pc\users)’, then allow ‘Users’ to have ‘Full Control’ for the particular file, then only I can edit, save and replace the file straight away.

But I am the only ‘admin’ of my own pc and no other user enable. From security menu, ‘administrator (my-pc\administrator)’ already been granted ‘full control’ right over the file, why I still cannot modify my files? Why I need to grant ‘full control’ to ‘users(my-pc\users)’ then only I can modify my file while I am the only admin and there is no other user allow to exist?

I can apply the security setting change to all the file by selecting folder, but heck vista still need to apply the setting change to all the file 1 by 1, and I got few hdd, total few TB and uncountable of file, apply setting to few thousand files already take so long I cannot stand anymore.

-Since admin already granted the right to ‘full control’, how can I ACTUALY work on my vista as REAL admin so I can skip the pain and modify my file straight away?

-Or is there any other way to get rid of this vista security pain once and for all? I don’t mind zero security over my file since I am the only person using my ext hdd.

problem transfer file on windows vista

I having problem to transfer file using windows vista

Everytime after switch on pc for a while, I try to move file from a folder to another folder, it will show status: discovering (0) items, time: calculating, speed: 0 bps, then it keep going and nothing happen.

I can forcefully end process and restart explorer.exe, then I still can’t move the file. it worsen that i wana shutdown/restart also cannot, must forcefully restart (press power button 5 sec) pc then only I can move the file.

Anybody facing same problem? Is there any solution for this?

help with different type dvi connector

hi guys, i am facing some problem with dvi connection.

i bought a radeon hd4870 today and try to connect to my lcd thru dvi cable (cable from lcd), i get no display.
after look at the vga and lcd, i found out that my radeon use dvi-I connection and lcd use dvi-D connection.

i am current using analogue to dvi converter include from vga, what i need to do so i can use dvi connection?
i need to find a cable with different type of connector at 2 end, or
i need to find a converter to convert between dvi-i and dvi-d, or
this can be solve by driver or software, or
any easier solution ?

I have some more question:
1. Are there any incompatible issue on my configuration?
2. Are there anything missing to build a full functional CPU?
3. Will 4GB ram too much? or windows 64bit nowadays still got a lot software/driver compatible issue? (from online review most reviewer use only 2GB ram dono why) btw how much for 64bit windows? the price is actually 32bit but I can't found in any shop pricelist.
4. Lastly please give any recommendation to improve my gaming rig as long as within my budget.
