Cooling Off Period

I am under fixed term contract with XYZ sdn bhd which is under ABC berhad. The contract will expire in 2 months time. Upon renewal the contract, i have to go for cooling off period for 7 days before signing the new contract. Is this normal?

From what I assume, the company wants to avoid continuous service for the staff. After renew contract, will the ABC berhad treat me as newly join staff? With no benefits of company bonus?

As for the staff who have salary above 2k, they are not protected by Employee Act right? So the cooling off period is suppose to be not applicable?

CYBERJAYA: Aries Telecoms (M) Bhd dan Setia Haruman Technology Sdn Bhd (SH Tech) bekerjasama menyediakan perkhidmatan teknologi jalur lebar IPv6 terpantas dengan kelajuan mencecah 1,000 megabait sesaat (Mbps) atau 1 gigabait sesaat (Gbps), dikenali sebagai Aries Infinity.

Ini menjadikan Malaysia segelintir kecil negara dunia dan pertama di rantau Asia Tenggara yang mempunyai teknologi berkepantasan sedemikian.

Pengerusi Aries Telecoms, Datuk Zuraidi Rahim, berkata buat permulaan Aries Infinity kini disediakan kepada pemilik perniagaan di perbandaran pintar, Cyberjaya.

Beliau berkata, perkhidmatan itu disediakan menerusi liputan infrastruktur gentian optik di Cyberjaya yang dipasang oleh Aries Telecoms, yang beroperasi sejak tahun 1996.

"Gentian optik itu meliputi hampir semua atau 90 peratus bangunan di Cyberjaya, menjadikan perkhidmatan Aries Infinity sedia digunakan pemilik perniagaan yang membolehkan penyelesaian bandar pintar, Internet of Things, Analisis Data Besar dan perkhidmatan ICT lain dilaksanakan di Cyberjaya.

"Aries Infinity adalah jalur lebar berkelajuan ultra tinggi yang direka bentuk khusus untuk menampung keperluan pelanggan seperti syarikat media, penyedia perkhidmatan Internet (ISP), syarikat multinasional, agensi kerajaan serta perusahaan besar," katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian semasa melancarkan perkhidmatan Aries Infinity di sini, sebentar tadi. Pelancaran disempurnakan Menteri Komunikasi dan Multimedia, Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

Mengulas lanjut, Zuraidi berkata perkhidmatan Aries Infinity akan diperluaskan ke hab perniagaan lain di Lembah Klang serta bandar utama lain seluruh negara bermula enam bulan akan datang.

"Kami berharap dapat berbuat demikian di kawasan terpilih Lembah Klang sebelum hujung tahun hadapan," katanya.

Pakej Aries Infinity kini boleh dilanggan pemilik perniagaan di Cyberjaya dengan harga RM5,000 sebulan.

Aries Telecoms juga bercadang untuk menyediakan perkhidmatan internet pantas kepada premis kediaman secara berperingkat. Ia sudah melabur kira-kira RM1 bilion bagi membina infrastruktur jalur lebar sejak penubuhannya 20 tahun lalu.
