UOL external LLB law

I've seen some topics on the gd law colleges to go to in Malaysia but I haven't seen a discussion on the external UOL LLB programme itself. I'm interested to hear the views of others regarding the programme.

My case is I think rather 'unique'. I'm a 1st year LLB student at King's College London but I'm thinking of coming back to Malaysia to continue my studies in one of the law colleges by entering the UOL programme in 2nd yr (IF it's possible).

I'm considering it because I do not think I'm getting my value for money (or rather my parent's money) . I find that in university a lot of the work is self-studied (as expected) so I figured 'Why pay so much when I could do that in Malaysia at a much cheaper college?'. I do not find the teaching at King's to be that great either. Another good reason is that for the money saved by coming back to Malaysia, I can use it instead to get an LLM in the future in UK. The cost of a UK LLM and LLB is almost the same (per annum).

My main concern is that law firms (especially UK/EU ones) may not attach the same recognition to the external programme. Now I know that the UOL and law firms say that they recognise it, but realistically I think they do 'discriminate' (maybe too harsh a word).

I'm also concerned that it will be more difficult to get a 1st class/2nd upper seeing that so few people (less than 5?) actually achieve those honours. It leads me to wonder whether the marking is stricter for external students ( perhaps the UOL does not want to give out too many external 1st class/2nd upper honours). I may be wrong on this though. Does anyone know where I can find out the statistics/results of UOL LLB students worldwide??

Please let me know what you think. I know that some of my views may be wrong/inaccurate and I'll be happy to hear form you all. I GREATLY appreciate your comments.
