Buy motor cheaper by RM 400

Anyone looking to purchase a motorcycle and wants it cheaper by RM 400?

Am looking for someone to help me to do number interchange with my car. You choose your own model of motor, and nego with whatever shop you like.

The only difference is you get a registered motor number plate and is officially a 2nd owner.

Edit: I should mention that my existing number has no summonses and has been in police report twice, both lodged by myself against the other party (it is blatantly the other party's fault) but no action has been taken by police. Malaysia boleh..... Both are minor accidents with scratches and cracks, where I borne the repair cost myself and has no bearing on anything. So my number is clean.

Refinancing within same bank

Hi guys, have anyone done this before?

Is there any cost difference than when you refinance with another bank?

The current list of refinancing cost to another bank is roughly as follow:

Lawyer fees
Power of Assignment
Deed of Assignment
Stamping fees
Valuation fees
Disbursement fee
Account closing fee

So account closing fee will not be charged, but what about stamping fees and lawyer fees? Any lesser than refinancing to other banks?
Empty Land in Gated Area

Hi guys,

Not sure whether this has been asked before, but are there any empty land available for sale in a gated community for sale currently? Am looking for a land size of at least 5000 sqft if possible. Even if it is belukar or whatever, does not matter, as long as there is a gated community surrounding it. Not interested in pre-built houses.

For area, the closer to KL city, the better. Or at least if can recommend areas where I can look into is also good. RM80 psf or less?

Item(s): Olympus PEN E-PL7

Package includes:

Everything in the original box of Olympus PEN E-PL7, with the exception of original battery charger. Replacement battery charger is provided instead. Refer to picture.
1. Camera body of Olympus PEN E-PL7
2. 8GB Sandisk Ultra SD Card (Class 10) - hardly use this SD card after I bought a new 32GB one at the end of 2015.
3. Original CD for software setup on computer
4. 1X BLS-50 Battery
5. Basic Manual
6. Camera-to-PC USB connector (99% mint, used less than 5 times)
7. Neck strap - in mint condition. Never used it before. I use a wrist strap which I bought separately and am not parting with it.
8. 3rd party battery charger - original charger got stolen while traveling.
9. Original Flash in almost mint condition.

Optional: Original Olympus 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ lens that comes with the camera. Also includes LC-37C Automatic Opening Lens Cap. Camera must go first.

Details on camera and lens:

Camera

a) Camera is bought on May 2015.
b) Shutter count < 10,000
c) Shows very very slight signs of use on the shutter and mode dial.
d) More obvious signs of use at the bottom edges of the exterior, as can be seen in the picture. Minor paint wear-off due to normal usage.
e) Camera operations is in 9.5/10 due to slightly damaged flex strip connecting the LCD to the camera. Only the ability to take selfie is affected with LCD going blank when flipped down, all other functions are 10/10. Common camera problem with flip screen design. Camera has been sent to Olympus 2 weeks ago, but due to parts requiring 20 working days to arrive, I retrieved my camera as I intend to use/sell it.
Olympus PEN E-PL7 (Black) SOLD

Cost of repair is just below RM 200 to replace the connector, after deducting the RM 25 deposit I paid earlier. If you intend to repair it, I will hand you the receipt (so you can save RM 25 inspection cost) and all you have to do is drop it off MidValley Olympus and wait for 20 working days for parts to arrive.

Olympus 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ lens
a) Lens is at 9.8/10 with very minor scruffs on the exterior.
b) Glass condition is 10/10 with no fungus or scratches.

Price:

SOLD

Not selling lens separately.

Warranty: None, come and assess for yourself.

Dealing method: COD only

Location: Either Midvalley or near Pudu Sentral.

Contact method/details: WhatsApp preferred. 017-lima-one-five-tiga-7-nil-kosong.
A story for newbies: Choosing your first camera

I have a renewed interest in photography, so I'd thought of sharing my views on how to choose your first 'decent camera'.

Let me start with one of the more interesting article that I found on camera systems. The article compares the mirrorless systems available today, and provide a very good overview on what to invest your money in, especially if you're just starting out and want to drop RM 2-4k on a camera. You can get it for less, if you're willing to go for used units but I would not recommend it if you are new to this world.

https://photographylife.com/evaluating-mirr...-camera-systems

My personal story:
I used to own one of those compact digital cameras from 2006 and to be honest, the quality then was not really good. The camera was just good enough to 'capture the moment', but if conditions were unfavourable (e.g. low light condition, in a moving vehicle, etc) photos would either be unusable or has excessive noise in there.

Back in 2015, I decided that I needed a decent 'prosumer' (yeah, I remember that was the fancy jargon of the day then) camera which allows me to take shots that would be of at the very least okay quality. I asked my dad for advice, who happens to be an photography enthusiast who owns DSLRs, dry box, multiple lens with lens hood and stuff. He proposed that I buy an Olympus PEN E-PL 7, which he just bought a few months back.

However, I was quite enamoured by his large DSLRs at that time to be honest, and asked him why didn't he propose a DSLR for me? After all, it looked damn cool with the large camera and lens. I imagined the various scenarios where I would be practicing photography and taking shots, like in weddings, light trails of moving cars at night, night landscapes, portraits at fashion shoots, etc. I had very big ideas of what I will do with my new an powerful DSLR. His response to me was that I am not at that 'level' yet, and my interest would fizzle out very quickly should I buy the DSLR. He also mentioned that the weight would just deter me to take the camera out, which would defeat the purpose of having a camera in the first place.

Not really believing his words, I proceeded to ask the question: "What if I graduated from the noob and reached a decent 'level'? Do I have to buy a new camera then?". He responded by saying that when you reached that stage, you can consider to upgrade your lens or buy a DSLR. He added that lens alone will make a lot of difference in photography, that's why many people have only 1 or 2 cameras but many lens.

I didn't really believed him then, but decided to just follow his proposition since I figured he has much more experience than I do.

3 years passed, with 6.5k shots taken and 3k switch-on count later, I couldn't help but to recall my discussion with my dad then. My Olympus PEN E-PL7 had been with me on every trip overseas (about 80 return flights over 3 years). Most of my travel was for work, but there were more than a few times when it was for pleasure. I took pictures of food, historical places, breathtaking landscapes, me riding an ox-cart, my visit to the first Starbucks in the the world in Seattle, Great Wall of China, The Forbidden Palace, the Craters of the Moon, Angkor Wat, drinking beer on a rooftop bar in Phnom Penh, floating market of Anphawa, my colleagues working in office, my office desk and many many more. The point is I took out my camera and clicked on the shutter. My E-PL 7 was with me every where I went, and in my opinion, that is what is the most important thing of owning a camera.

My pictures were not great or anywhere close to it (most of the time anyway). I took selfies that looked like it was taken by an beginner most of the time. Some of my shots were blurry, some has me right smack in the middle (which means lousy composition most of the time), some were slightly over-exposed, some had people in the background spoiling the scene and the list goes on. But, I captured many memorable moments with decent sharpness and good quality. My pictures will not win any awards, but they are there. It shows that I have been to a place, reminds me of my travels, and occasionally allow me to boast my photography skills (whenever I get lucky) to my limited audience in FB. At least I won't cringe at my own photos or be disappointed by the noise level when I review them.

The main point I want to share with all of those who just started out to consider buying a 'serious' camera is this: buy a small camera so that you can bring it everywhere with you. The number of shots taken with your camera and the number of occasions you have your camera with you is a lot more important than having gears that allow you to take the best pictures.

If space capacity permits, buy one with that allows interchangeable lens. This will sort of future-proof your camera quite a bit, and provides you a flavour of how the DSLR world works. That is the whole purpose of the first link that I quoted, because camera and lens are only compatible when they share the same mount. When you buy a camera, you're also buying into their ecosystem, so to speak.

Hope this helps you in your decision to buy a new camera.

Full Body Health Checkup

Relying on the collective wisdom of /k here.

Any recommendations on where should I go for a full body check up? I did some online search and found a few 'deals', which I don't actually know are they cheap or expensive, nor whether they provide a truly 'comprehensive test'.
Ledger Nano S Compromised

https://saleemrashid.com/2018/03/20/breakin...security-model/

Go to link to read entire article, am already kind enough to share this.

Summary is Ledger Nano S is not as secure a portrayed by Ledger company. It can quite easily be compromised. flaw exists due to non-secure element used, called the MCU. No coiners rejoice!

QUOTE

Breaking the Ledger Security Model

Mar 20, 2018

In this post, I’m going to discuss a vulnerability I discovered in Ledger hardware wallets. The vulnerability arose due to Ledger’s use of a custom architecture to work around many of the limitations of their Secure Element.

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to compromise the device before the user receives it, or to steal private keys from the device physically or, in some scenarios, remotely.

1. Physical access before setup of the seed

Also known as a “supply chain attack”, this is the focus of this article. It does not require malware on the target computer, nor does it require the user to confirm any transactions. Despite claims otherwise, I have demonstrated this attack on a real Ledger Nano S. Furthermore, I sent the source code to Ledger a few months ago, so they could reproduce it.

As you can tell from the video above, it is trivial to perform a supply chain attack that modifies the generated recovery seed. Since all private keys are derived from the recovery seed, the attacker could steal any funds loaded onto the device.

2. Physical access after setup

This is commonly known as an “Evil Maid attack”. This attack would allow you to extract the PIN, recovery seed and any BIP-39 passphrases used, provided the device is used at least once after you attack it.

As before, this does not require malware on the computer, nor does it require the user to confirm any transactions. It simply requires an attacker to install a custom MCU firmware that can exfiltrate the private keys without the user’s knowledge, next time they use it.

3. Malware (with a hint of social engineering)

This attack would require the user to update the MCU firmware on an infected computer. This could be achieved by displaying an error message that asks the user to reconnect the device with the left button held down (to enter the MCU bootloader). Then the malware can update the MCU with malicious code, allowing the malware to take control of the trusted display and confirmation buttons on the device.

This attack becomes incredibly lucrative if used when a legitimate firmware update is released, as was the case two weeks ago.

Give me the honey!

PETALING JAYA: Honey can actually confer many health benefits.

Dr Hanis Mastura Yahya, a senior lecturer and nutritionist from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, said 95% of honey’s dry weight is composed of carbohydrates (mainly in the forms of fructose and glucose), which are easily absorbed by the human body.

According to her, honey contains at least 181 substances that include small amounts of vitamins such as ascorbic acid, niacin, riboflavin; minerals such as calcium potassium, phosphorus, sodium; as well as proteins and phytochemicals such as phenolic, flavonoids and carotenoids.

Dr Hanis, who is also a Council Member of the Nutrition Society of Malaysia, added that the consumption of different honey varieties will have differing effects on one’s blood glucose level.

“The Glycaemic Index (GI) of honey ranges from 32 to 87. A lower value of GI is associated with higher fructose-glucose ratio,” she said, adding that fructose is believed to be able to prevent a spike in one’s blood glucose level.

According to her, foods with low GI and high fructose-glucose ratio will induce only a small increase in blood glucose level.

“Although results from several studies reported that honey consumption by diabetic patients can cause short-term hyperglycemia, the increment in blood glucose level is significantly lower compared to the intake of other types of sugar.”

She added that some studies reported that consumption of honey will result in a reduction in several lipid parameters such as total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol.

“Summaries from several human and animal studies suggest honey’s ability to facilitate in ameliorating (alleviating) lipid abnormalities,” she said.

According to her, eating honey will also increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level among healthy individuals or patients with hyperlipidemia (which is essentially high cholestrol levels).

Studies in various forms of cancer cells and tumours have also shown that honey is suggested to have antimetastatic, antiproliferative and anticancer effects.

Ingesting honey is not the only way of squeezing the benefits from the food substance.

Dr Hanis explained that there are medicinal benefits to be derived from the application of honey on wounds.

“Topical usage of honey rapidly clears the wound infection and facilitates healing of deep surgical wounds with infection.”

She added that honey is also effective for treating stomatitis or sore mouth as it has the ability to penetrate quickly into the tissues.

She also explained that the acidity of honey inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria, and that its antibacterial property is due to a high sugar and low moisture content.

“Honey possesses antibacterial property due to characteristics such as high osmolarity and low pH level.

“For example, in a clinical trial, the recovery period for gastroenteritis was reduced after honey was used as a replacement for oral rehydration solutions,” she said.

Dr Hanis said there are differences in the antibacterial properties depending on the type of honey.

“Honey produced from Manuka plant is native to New Zealand and is associated with having positive effects against bacteria.

“Manuka honey is labelled with a unique Manuka factor trademark as a grading system, and its value refers to the unique content of leptosperin, dihydroxyacetone and methylglyoxal, which reflect the antibacterial properties of the honey product,” she said.

She shared that tualang honey, which is found in the north-western region of peninsular Malaysia, is suggested to be as effective as Manuka honey.

“Tualang honey is a jungle honey produced by rock bees which build their hives at the branches of the Tualang tree.

“A study between Tualang honey, other types of local honey and Manuka honey found higher phenolic acids and flavonoids content in Tualang honey compared to the others,” she said.

She said the variety of honey is influenced by geography, botanical source, season, harvesting, processing and storage.

“Honey varieties can be differentiated by the shade of their colours, in which lighter colour indicates milder taste.

“The botanical origin will determine the aroma, taste and colour of the honey,” she said, adding that honey can be found in the forms of liquid, comb, crystallised or whipped.

She said honey can be incorporated into food preparation such as in cakes, muffins, smoothies, overnight oats, salad dressing, chicken marination and in tea.

“A tablespoon of honey can supply 64 kilocalories and its intake in the daily diet should be counted as part of the carbohydrate allowance.

“Due to the high fructose content, honey is 25% sweeter than regular table sugar. Thus, the amount of honey consumed must be smaller than normal sugar,” she said, adding that carbohydrates should contribute only 10-20% of total daily energy intake for diabetic patients.

According to her, there are guidelines for the proper consumption and storage of honey, although it has many health benefits.

“Honey should not be given to children under the age of 12 months because of the risk of botulism.

“This illness is associated with food contamination from spore production, and honey is one of the potential sources of the disease-causing spores.

“Although honey has low moisture content, it should not be left uncovered as this can lead to fermentation and spoilage,” she said.

She added that it is advisable to clean one’s teeth after eating honey, just as is the case with normal sugar.

However, she dispelled the myth that the acidity of honey would corrode a metal spoon used to eat it.

“The metal spoon will not corrode in the few seconds it is used to scoop the honey. The corrosive effect can be considered as negligible.

“However, plastic, ceramic or wooden spoons can be used as alternatives to scoop honey,” she said.

Source: https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2018...f-health-benef/

Hi, I noticed that a user named 'Pencabul Lembu' was banned. I am unsure of the reason he is banned, but more importantly there is a thread in Kopitiam that he started on Honey which I thought was having a good discussion but is now gone.

What is the reason it is gone? Sorry, a bit lagging here as it likely has been gone for a few days.
