What is cat5e lan cable?

[attachmentid=9340810]
Upgraded TIME Boardband 500Mbps last month and got this dlink dir-842 gigabit router to replaced the linksys brand router that come with the plan as I couldn't get 500Mbps which this is what i am paying for . Overall the wifi coverage is good but when come to the connection stability and internet speed it doesn't have any different with the previous router! So I took my friend advise to connect my laptop to the router using the short lan cable provided in the box but the Internet speed still couldn't even near to 500Mbps!!
[attachmentid=9340811]

My techie friend thought I was failed to connecting the router so in the next day he borrow me his so called "cat5e" lan cable and finally I could get the internet speed .
[attachmentid=9340813]

I wish to know what is "Cat5e" lan cable and how it can get this done so i did some research on internet it said cat5e cable is usually composed of more copper wiring so it allows internet speed to work at up to 1000Mbps ( what??)
[attachmentid=9344475]
and normal lan cable contain lesser or no . I wonder why can't dlink just provides a lan cable that contain more copper as this is a gigabit router which suppose to get 1000Mbps. Does it contain too less of copper (cost saving)? My curiosity led me to find out and this is what it looks like. Does it contain more copper wiring? It seem like no....
[attachmentid=9344471]

[attachmentid=9344473]
Do i found out something wrong here? Before i make my complaint to dlink/seller i need sifu here to help me verify this.
