Subaru Crosstrek - Improved Version of XV?,

Has anyone viewed, test driven or booked the new Subaru Crosstrek? The Subaru Crosstrek was introduced recently to replace the XV with main changes to the exterior and some other changes to the interior. The performance and handling of the Crosstrek are said to be improved from the XV as well with slightly improved NVH although the engine remains the same. The improved performance is said to be contributed by the calibrated CVT, stiffer chassis based on the updated Subaru Global platform and new dual-pinion steering to name a few.

Since the Subaru Crosstrek has been launched, there is currently huge discounts for the XV where some (or most) dealers are selling it for RM102k, perhaps lower I'm not sure. The Crosstrek is RM191k which is a tough sell at this price though.

I would like to seek experiences from previous or current Subaru XV owners not only in terms of handling and performance but ownership experiences in terms of maintenance of the vehicle, availability of spare parts, cost of repair and waiting time in the event the vehicle goes to the workshop for any sort of repairs and parts need to be ordered etc.

not blind spot camera, blind spot sensor, as in when a car is creeping up on u , the car mirror will have a light turn on

just want to ask for those who have it, is it reliable?

i already have parking 360 camera, if i install this sensor interfere with my 360 camera?

Hi sifus, can recommend any exhaust shop?
Wanted to upgrade my car so can vroom vroom.

After looking at past posts, many people recommended to avoid wai yip/wai heng/ xin performance exhaust or any shop affiliated with them as it has many bad reviews.

Kweng84 macam nice but i saw they are recently affiliated with xin performance?

Jian hang no longer do its own exhaust, he only works as consultant

Any recommendation?

Hi everyone.

I’ve been using 3M Crystalline for all my cars for more than 10 years and very happy with it. But I was offered QUAD brand, specifically their Magnetron series. The specs seem to be better than 3M Crystalline but not sure if it’s true. Price-wise is almost similar. It also has 8 years warranty compared to 5 with 3M.

I’m looking for real world experience. And it uses metal elements so I’m also worried that it might affect RFID and GPS reception. I wonder if anyone is using it, would you recommend it?

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is adjusting policies and incentives to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure nationwide, with a target of 30,000 charging stations by 2030, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin said the government is working with Tenaga Nasional Bhd to set up sufficient power substations to meet the energy demands of direct current fast chargers.

"Malaysia aims to provide 30,000 charging facilities by 2030. The government acknowledges that there is currently a shortage of such facilities."

Sim said electric vehicles are a new technology and product segment, which is why the government is adjusting its policies and incentives alongside ongoing efforts to multiply charging points.

"What the government is doing now is collaborating with stakeholders, particularly TNB, to construct substations.

"For charging points to function effectively, we need substations to supply sufficient direct current power, so we must construct more of these substations," he said.

He added that the government is also formulating targeted incentives for charging point operators to encourage infrastructure development.

Sim was responding to a question from Datuk Dr Ku Abdul Rahman Ku Ismail (PN-Kubang Pasu), who urged EV companies to actively participate in building charging stations to encourage wider adoption.

Ku Abdul Rahman suggested collaborating with the Public Works Department and the Housing and Local Government Ministry to ensure charging stations are integrated into residential developments, such as apartments and condominiums.

He also urged the government to expand charging infrastructure beyond major metropolitan areas to smaller towns such as Sungai Petani and Alor Setar.

"While this process will take time, the government has taken note of the suggestions raised by Kubang Pasu, and we will continue to improve our efforts," Sim said.

Addressing other policy differences, Sim said the government applies distinct regulatory frameworks to internal combustion engine vehicles and EVs given their differing stages of industrial development.

He said that while ICE completely built-up imports have long faced entry restrictions based on engine capacity, limited to models with 1,800cc and above, EV policies must balance rapid local adoption with the development of the domestic assembly industry, supply chains, and the broader EV ecosystem.

"Furthermore, the tax structures differ significantly. While EVs currently enjoy a low excise duty of only 10 per cent, ICE vehicles face much higher rates depending on engine capacity and localisation requirements."

Sim said because of the low excise duty, the accurate determination of an EV's import value is critical.

He said the government established a minimum Cost, Insurance, and Freight value to prevent the under-declaration of import values on CBU EVs and safeguard state tax revenues.

Suzuki Cars Malaysia has teased the upcoming local debut of the fully-electric Suzuki eVitara on its social media page, hinting at an official launch soon.

As Suzuki’s first global EV model, the eVitara was co-developed with Toyota, with the former partnership also resulting in the Toyota Urban Cruiser. The model is built on Suzuki’s new dedicated BEV platform, dubbed the “Heartect-e”, which provides a lightweight chassis and a spacious interior courtesy of short body overhangs.

Measuring 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall with a 2,700 mm wheelbase, the eVitara is 310 mm longer and 155 mm wider than the Jimny 5-door. The exterior design of the eVitara is driven by a “High-tech & adventure” theme, combining a rugged SUV aesthetic with a modern electric vehicle silhouette.

Globally, the crossover is available with three powertrain options. The entry-level version features a front-mounted traction motor producing 144 hp and 189 Nm of torque, paired with a 49 kWh battery pack.

The mid-tier variant upgrades to a more powerful front motor generating 174 hp and 193 Nm, which is paired to a larger 61 kWh battery pack, enabling a range of 424 km (WLTP). Stepping up to the ALLGRIP-e 4WD variant adds a rear-mounted traction motor to deliver a combined output of 184 hp and 300 Nm. It features a unique “trail mode” that mimics a limited-slip differential for some mild off-roading.

Depending on the variant, the exterior rides on 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, a rugged horizontal dashboard layout frames an integrated display system, combining a 10.1-inch centre touchscreen alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Suzuki Cars Malaysia did not disclose any indicative pricing, but we can look to the Toyota Urban Cruiser, which launched in Malaysia priced at RM198,000, suggesting the Suzuki eVitara could be priced around a similar figure.

My old car which my parent is using once in a while just past the 15 years mark and up for renewal, and since I've already transferred my NCD to my new car, I don't think it's worth getting comprehensive insurance for it anymore, where cheapest also cost over RM800. But most of the platform doesn't seems to provide 3rd party coverage renewal online.
What do you guys normally do with cars over 15y? Do you still buy comprehensive insurance? Where can I get the cheapest 3 party insurance for car?
