PETALING JAYA: DAP’s Ong Kian Ming today labelled as “tone deaf” the celebratory social media posts over the High Court’s decision to dismiss a bid by Najib Razak to serve out his sentence in the SRC International case under house arrest.

The former Bangi MP said such posturing ignored the feelings of many in the Malay community who might not support Najib’s actions over 1MDB but did not want to see a former prime minister humiliated.

He also said that such people would not want to see the leaders of a party which most of them already did not like “celebrating” the court’s decision on social media.

“The country is already divided enough over racial and religious politicking, including after the recent Cabinet reshuffle.

“There is no need to add further ‘fuel to the fire’ by making remarks and issuing statements that are likely to inflame such sentiments among various communities,” he said in a statement.

Ong also said that such “celebratory” actions would more than just weaken the government’s ability to function effectively for the remainder of its term over the next two years.

It could also threaten the likelihood of an electoral agreement between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) before and after the next general election, he said.

“Who knows, this might be one of the actions that could lead BN to seek closer cooperation with Perikatan Nasional in the run-up to the next election, to the detriment of PH and its supporters,” he said.

Yesterday, Ong’s party colleague, Yeo Bee Yin, wrote “another reason to celebrate this year end” following the court’s decision.

Her comment drew the ire of Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, who described her as being “very rude and inhumane”.

Asyraf also said that it might be time for Umno to review its cooperation with those who did not appreciate the party’s contributions.

Separately, rapper-turned-politician Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad of PKR said Yeo’s post was “uncouth and uncalled for”. Syed Ahmad, also known as Altimet, is the Lembah Jaya assemblyman.

Ong said there was no reason to rub salt into the wound over the judgement, and that Najib had already served more than three years of his jail sentence.

He also noted health concerns repeatedly raised by family members of the former Pekan MP.

“I would feel burdened and sad if I were any of Najib’s children or grandchildren, thinking about how their father and grandfather was sitting alone in Kajang prison while most other people are enjoying their year-end break and celebrating the holidays with their family and friends,” he said.

High Court Justice Alice Loke yesterday dismissed Najib’s judicial review application to compel the government to execute a supplementary royal decree to place him under house arrest for the remainder of his six-year sentence.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged all quarters to approach the matter with patience and prudence, saying it was inappropriate to escalate tensions or worsen the situation during what he described as a delicate period.

PETALING JAYA: DAP’s Ong Kian Ming says it is time to have a serious conversation about the possibility of a full pardon for former prime minister Najib Razak, who is currently serving time in jail for corruption.

The former Bangi MP recalled how, in 2023, he had said that a full pardon for Najib would constitute a “red line” for DAP.

“More than two years on, especially after the discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) granted to deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, I am less sure of that ‘red line’,” he added.

In a statement, he said his stance on a full pardon for the country’s sixth prime minister was influenced by the “grand amnesty” proposal first mooted by former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin in 2023.

Such amnesty would include not only a full pardon for Najib, perhaps after the conclusion of his 1MDB case, but also the dismissal of ongoing cases against former finance minister Lim Guan Eng and former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, he said.

He also cited the government’s appeal in former youth and sports minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s corruption case and attempts to go after the assets of the late Daim Zainuddin.

“This would make room for what Khairy terms a ‘political reset’ so that we can stop the process of going after our political rivals using the instruments of the state once one side is in power,” he said.

“In my naive and idealistic thinking, I am hoping that this may be part of the process for greater political maturity that is much needed for this country.”

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had expressed hope on Sunday that Najib would be granted a royal pardon soon.

The deputy prime minister said Najib had served three years in prison and deserved proper consideration for a full royal pardon.

Najib was convicted of misappropriating RM42 million in SRC International funds and has been serving his sentence at Kajang prison since Aug 23, 2022.

He applied for a royal pardon on Sept 2, 2022.

On Feb 2, 2024, the pardons board announced that his prison term had been halved from 12 years to six, and his fine reduced from RM210 million to RM50 million.

In dismissing Najib’s bid to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest, High Court judge Justice Alice Loke said yesterday that the Federal Territories Pardons Board had provided its advice on the proposed full pardon as well as the 50% reduction of prison term.

Umno Supreme Council member Ahmad Maslan was later reported as saying that the party would continue to push for Najib’s release and a full pardon.

Tony Pua and Ong Kian Ming for working with Sabri govt to implement Anti katak law.

Working with UMNO was such an unpopular decision that both of them lost in DAP elections, making them not participate in GE15 at all.

Without the anti katak law, I think the Agong already accepted Moo's 115 SD and declare him PM already.

Everyone said Sabri won't implement it but its better than doing nothing. They took advantage of a losing situation to push for the anti katak law.

Brief translation: They applied for the "leaving Malaysia" permission for NTS on August 1st (which is a while ago). They asked for the same intermediary who did that for NTS for the Animajor to submit the application, and the intermediary told them that it's going to take longer, but stated that NTS will get his permission before the second week of September (which is today - deadline already passed in Asia). Fnatic.ChYuan applied for his permission on July 16th and got it within a month so they thought everything was fine.

So with the deadline passed, they are not sure when NTS will get the permission (No earlier than next Monday for sure). They are in close contact with the intermediary company and will let everyone know if things work out. They are also trying to find ways to speed up the process

TEAM MALAYSIA WITHDRAWS FROM OVERWATCH WORLD CUP.

It is with my deepest regret to announce that Team Malaysia will NOT be participating in this year's Overwatch World Cup.

Despite efforts made to rally support and raise the required funds from relevant parties, we have failed to meet the target in order to send our boys to compete in the tournament, set to be held at BlizzCon 2019.

Requests of assistance from several national companies in hopes of lessening our travel and financial burden were flatly turned down, and the support promised by the country's sports governing body - whilst initially was encouraging - ultimately failed as we were informed last minute that the funds allocated (half of what we initially asked for) will only be available by the time the Overwatch World Cup 2019 ends.

I would like to thank everyone who has shown their support for the team since inception and I hope this continues well into the future. We have a very promising esports circuit here in Malaysia, filled with enthusiastic and talented individuals, in dire need of proper governance and management from policy makers.

I also implore that the funds promised to this team by the KBS to be carried forward for use to prepare Team Malaysia for next year's competition, as well as growth of the Overwatch community in Malaysia.

Rest assured that we will fulfil all orders placed for the alternate jerseys that were sold as part of the team's fundraising drive. Pick-up is scheduled for this weekend, Saturday at a soon-to-be confirmed location in and around Petaling Jaya.

As a final word, I'd like to thank our Committee Members - Our Community Lead, Intan and our Head Coach Nigel - for their professionalism and understanding throughout, our players for their dedication and effort put in, the volunteers who selflessly contributed to the team and supporters who never gave up on us. We may have stumbled this time around, but rest assured a clutch rez is just around the corner.

Gameplay assumptions based on the screenshots: 5 heroes, 3 item by heroes (one for attack, one for armor, one for health), item cards can be purchased with gold, towers have 40 HP, creeps might spawn through a stack on the side of the lane rather than being played from your hand.

More assumptions: Each lane has its own mana pool. Some cards affect all three lanes.

More assumptions: Passives are square on the hero cards, abilities might be played from your hand, or maybe you attach your abilities to your hero cards (because Luna is seen with a Lucent Beam square instead of Lunar Blessing).

More: When dead, heroes respawn after a timer, shown in the top-left corner of the screen.

From a short clip: Hero cards appear face down as they are played, they are revealed at the start of the turn.

Assumption about colors: Faction-based. The colors are blue, green, red, and purple probably referencing the teaser, with black being purple in order for the cards to be more colorful. It's not attribute based (Blue Luna and Green Lycan for example).

You can play summons from your hand (wolves for Lycan, rebel decoys for the unknown cat-guy).

PA is shown with two different squares. I don't know if that means there are different versions of the same card or if it can be upgraded, or if it has to be equipped, or if it can be swapped. The first one is known to be "Efficient Killer," providing +4 damage against heroes. The other one looks like Coup de Grace. (Green cat-guy also has a different square. The difference is only shown in the screenshots rather than the phone pictures, so it might just be an older build.)

Lucent Beam is not a passive but a "reactive ability" that deals 1 damage before "the action phase".

Summons can have active abilities.

You need to take down 2 out of 3 towers to win the game, so it's literally not DotA. You can also win the game by destroying the enemy Ancient (towers have 40 HP, the Ancient has 80 HP). (So either deal 40 structural damage in two lanes or 120 in a single lane.)

Your deck can only have cards of two colors (out of four).

Red cards are more bruiser oriented, Blue cards are mage oriented, Black cards are assassin oriented, Green cards are utility/summons oriented.

Spells of a color can only be played on a board with a hero of that color. (Meaning you can probably play God's Strength on Legion Commander but can't play it on Zeus, for example.) Some spells can be played on any board, and apparently Black cards are particularly adept at this.

You buy items at the end of every third turn. You get 5 gold from killing heroes, 1 from killing creeps.

Heroes respawn after one turn into your deck.

Creeps are played at random.

The Dota 2 lore will come from special interaction between cards. (Possibly new voice lines? Who knows?)

Cards will be bought and sold on the market. There probably won't be any rarity to them.

Combat is automatic. Heroes and creeps attack one of the three units in front of them randomly. If there's no unit, they'll attack the tower.

You play each board consecutively.

What went wrong in the Sarawak elections? Pakatan thinks they are in the year 2008 where they can rake in votes by doing absolutely nothing. Back then although they had problems, they were united. They campaign for each other, make joint ceramahs and all but now? Look at Sarawak, DAP and PKR campaigned for themselves rather than for each other. Adenan however campaigned hard for SUPP, pulling back so many voters. Get your shit together for the next elections and please get things right this time. Those things you promised us last time? Well, you didn't do it or didn't even bother to bring it up anymore. Here are some things that the opposition should do now. Some of it is even so basic

1) Apologize to your voters for all your shenanigans - If you have time for finger pointing and writing TLDR crap like this. How about writing an apology to say sorry for all your shits? Ego problems plague opposition so much that they can't even apologize properly. Same thing with PAS conflict, Langkah Kajang etc. They just point finger and scoff it away. Come on, it's not too late now, prove me wrong by owning up to your mistakes and apologize for all the infighting during Sarawak elections.

2) Officialize the coalition - Second biggest problem. Whatever happened the promise to officialize the coalition? Fighting under one banner is ever so important. Ever since Zaid Ibrahim left PKR, they have not even bothered about this. This is important because nobody is going to vote for Amanah because they have no brand. Some might even vote PAS just because they think they are still in Pakatan. Want to vote BN, easy just find the dacing. Vote for Pakatan? Good luck finding the right candidate (especially if both parties are in the ballot ) edit: Current guy that is in charge of this is Saifuddin Abdullah but point still stands, nothing is being done. Thanks [@Faidzal]

3) Where's the teamwork? - Everything done nowadays is party based. Ceramahs, campaigning and they even have a separate manifesto for Sarawak's election. It's clear that the manifesto was written without putting much thought into it. If they can't work together just disband and lose the election. No point putting band-aids over to fix a crack.

4) Who the hell is your leader? - For BN again it's easy, our ever loving PM Najib. He makes the call no matter how idiotic it is. Who is it for Pakatan? Anwar is in jail how the heck is he going to lead? Azmin Ali? Lim Kit Siang? They currently only have a de-facto leader, which is Anwar (note de-facto, not official). Please move on from Anwar, he is so 2008. Ever wonder who is gonna be PM if Pakatan takes over? No bloody clue because they can't work together and they don't have an official leader. How about the promised shadow cabinet? I know there's a DAP shadow cabinet but where's the Pakatan one? Again they can't work together without bringing up huge conflict so they just act like it isn't needed.

5) What ever happened to limiting candidates from running both DUN and MP? - Talk about power hungry. You'd complain about BN being power hungry but people like Lim Guan Eng (DAP Sec-Gen, Penang CM, Bagan MP, Air Puteh DUN) and Azmin Ali (PKR Deputy President, Selangor MB, Gombak MP, Bukit Antarabangsa DUN) also holds countless of post. Not even BN allow their candidates to run both MP and DUN, so why not Pakatan?

6) Stop with your parachute candidates - Rakyat forgave Pakatan for parachute candidates during 2008 but this problem is still not fixed. DAP's Abdul Aziz must be the biggest joker I've seen in awhile with his post election speech. Blaming his grandmother what the hell and jabbing at PKR. People like this should be weeded out long ago.

7) Go out and work instead of harping on same issues - One of PKR's manifesto for Sarawak election, abolish GST. Seriously? What does that have to do with Sarawak elections? Voting PKR in Sarawak will magically abolish GST? How about understanding what is the real local problems by doing some groundwork. If the entire party can come out with crap like this, don't bother running for elections it is embarrassing. Even independent candidates can do better.

All these problems are why they are so low turnouts so don't blame voters but blame yourself for low turnouts. People don't even bother voting for you guys anymore. There are definitely more problems but this thread already TL;DR so I'll stop here. Stuff like blame game etc is already a well known problem.

So who do you vote in elections? I voted for DAP/PKR last elections but that is going to change. No matter how shitty and corrupt BN is, at least they won't self implode figuring out who is to become PM and fight for power. Pakatan Harapan has no stability at all
