Zero Evidence of AI-Related Job Losses

The chart below shows the weekly ADP employment data, and there is zero evidence of job losses because of AI.

Instead, many firms are hiring AI implementation experts, and the data center buildout is putting upward pressure on salaries for AI experts and on prices of semiconductors, equipment and energy.

The bottom line is that the AI spending boom is stoking both employment and inflation.

As a result, nonfarm payrolls for May could come in significantly higher than the 95,000 expected by the consensus.

It is Jevons paradox playing out in real time: cheaper technology is creating more demand and more jobs.

https://www.apollo.com/wealth/the-daily-spa...ated-job-losses

USA considers directly sell missiles to Malaysia

SINGAPORE, May 29 (Bernama) -- The United States (US) has assured Malaysia that it will consider selling missile as a solution to the issues facing the country regarding the acquisition of the weapon system from Norway, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

He said the matter was raised by US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth in a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the 23rd IISS Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) here which took place from today to Sunday.

He said he also briefed Hegseth on the issues facing Malaysia regarding the purchase of Naval Strike Missile (NSM) from Norway and sought the US's views on the matter.

"We have asked the US for its views to help find a solution to the issue at hand because, it is well known that there is a US company that manufactures the same missile as Norway.

"We have asked whether the US is willing to allow the sale of the missile to us to address the problem at hand," he told Bernama today.

The Norwegian government was previously reported to have revoked the export license of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) anti-ship missile to Malaysia and its associated launcher system on the grounds of protecting the country's security.

According to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace US (KDA) website, the NSM procurement was signed between the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and KDA in April 2018 with a contract value of 124 million euros (RM571.9 million) to equip six new Littoral Combat Ships (LCS).

Meanwhile, Mohamed Khaled said the US also proposed sharing information related to the Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) implemented by Malaysia.

In other developments, he held a meeting with Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Richard Marles to discuss efforts to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries.

He said the cooperation includes the establishment of a Joint Planning Committee, expanded information sharing and preparations for the upcoming Malaysia-Australia High Level Committee (HLC) and Five-Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) meetings.

"I congratulate Australia on the implementation of the National Defence Strategy 2026 (NDS 2026) and Integrated Investment Programme 2026 (IIP 2026) as important steps in strengthening its defence capabilities and readiness," he said.

Regarding Canada, Mohamed Khaled said Malaysia and the country were ready to strengthen defence ties through more formal cooperation.

"We propose that a formal form of defence cooperation be established that is signed by both countries because currently the existing cooperation is not based on any agreement," he said.

The Shangri-La Dialogue IISS 2026 organised by The International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore brought together defence ministers, military chiefs and diplomats from dozens of countries to discuss regional and global security and defence issues.

https://bernama.com/en/general/news.php?id=2562895

Farhash terus kekal bersama perjuangan REFORMASI

https://www.astroawani.com/berita-politik/f...ensyarah-kanan#

[twt]https://twitter.com/nasaspaceflight/status/2060164928472854821?s=46[/twt]

[twt]https://twitter.com/spaceflightnow/status/2060170680604168319?s=46[/twt]

QUOTE

On Thursday evening Blue Origin attempted to test fire its massive New Glenn rocket at its Florida launch site, but something went very wrong after engine ignition. The super heavy lift rocket exploded in spectacular and disastrous fashion.

The static fire test was being filmed by NASASpaceflight.com on its Space Coast Live feed, which captured video of the conflagration that followed destruction of the booster. The first stage of New Glenn, fueled with methane, produced a massive fireball above the launch site along the Florida coast, LC-36A. It is possibly the most dramatic and powerful rocket explosion since the Soviet Union’s N1 rocket was destroyed during a launch attempt in 1969.

There was no immediate indication as to what caused the rocket to fail during the initial stages of the static fire test. The failure originated with the first stage of the rocket, which is powered by seven BE-4 engines. Sources said the problem appeared to start in the engine section of the vehicle.

“It’s too early to know the root cause but we’re already working to find it,” Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos said on X. “Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it.”

No one was injured during the failure, which sources said caused extensive damage to the company’s large and complex launch site. During a pad failure in 2016, with the smaller Falcon 9 rocket, it took SpaceX more than a year to rebuild its seriously damaged Space Launch Complex-40 pad.

A true catastrophe

This is the worst disaster in the history of Blue Origin, founded in 2000.

The company has launched New Glenn three times, during each of which the first stage performed well. The company had already demonstrated the ability to land the New Glenn first stage, and impressively reused it in April for the first time.

During that third flight, carrying the Blue Bird 7 satellite, an upper stage issue caused the mission to fail. However the company responded rapidly to the in-flight failure and returned to the launch pad in less than two months this week. The first stage for this mission, nicknamed No, It’s Necessary, was making its debut launch.

Prior to this launch attempt Blue Origin had in its inventory two first stages and about six New Glenn upper stages completed, and it was poised to break into a monthly launch cadence. By all accounts, the rocket was viewed as a major success for a company which, for so long, had seemed to plod along. New Glenn’s success catapulted the company to the upper echelon of spaceflight enterprises in the world. That Blue Origin was on the precipice of accelerating further makes this setback all the more painful.

New Glenn an essential part of a Moon Base

The failure of New Glenn also has major implications for NASA and its surging efforts to return humans to the Moon before the end of this decade, and to establish a lunar base on the surface.

On Tuesday NASA announced that it had selected the New Glenn rocket to deliver the first two rovers, built by Lunar Outpost and Astrolab, to the lunar surface in 2028. Blue Origin has developed its own cargo lunar lander, Blue Moon Mark 1, designed to fly on top of New Glenn. It was due to launch this fall to the Moon for the first time, and again next year carrying the VIPER rover to the Moon for NASA.

Then there is the larger Blue Moon Mark 2 lander, which is due to fly on a larger and more powerful version of the New Glenn rocket with nine first stage engines, known as 9×4. NASA is counting on the Mark 2 lander, alongside SpaceX’s Starship vehicle, to carry humans to the Moon on a regular basis—and soon.

Pad infrastructure severely damaged

It is too early to determine the impacts from this failure, but they will be considerable. Early reports from sources suggest that the launch infrastructure at LC-36A is severely damaged. A source indicated that one of the lightning towers may not be salvageable, and that the transporter-erector may also be damaged beyond repair.

The company recently began construction on a second New Glenn launch site nearby, LC-36B. However work there is in its early stages. It is possible, however, that completing this new launch tower may be faster than rebuilding LC-36A. New Glenn almost certainly will not launch again in 2026, and frankly a launch during the first half of 2027 would be heroic given the launch site concerns.

Blue Origin has been doing a lot of developmental work on the larger 9×4 rocket, which is expected to become the workhorse of the fleet over the smaller 7×2 rocket variant that exploded on Thursday evening in Florida. It is possible that the company now throws all of its efforts into completing work on this larger rocket.

Bezos, who made his fortune from Amazon, has largely funded Blue Origin since its founding a quarter of a century ago. He has put tens of billions of dollars into the company. Fortunately for Blue Origin, he has the financial wherewithal to sustain the company through this failure, and to accelerate its recovery efforts. NASA, too, will be very keen to see Blue Origin get back on its feet as expeditiously as possible.

If there’s a small silver lining its that the rocket that exploded Thursday night did not carry its payload of Amazon Leo internet satellites. They were safe, in a nearby integration facility, awaiting launch.

https://arstechnica.com/space/2026/05/blue-...atic-fire-test/
Bersatu sertai semula PH?

Note: Berita Harian is owned by Media Prima

QUOTE

Namun demikian, politik Malaysia berkali-kali membuktikan kelangsungan strategik sering mengatasi permusuhan sejarah.

Spekulasi sedang berlaku tunjukkan realiti penting

Jika penjajaran semula itu benar-benar berlaku, ia bukan sahaja mengejutkan akar umbi parti, malah berpotensi mengubah semula keseluruhan persamaan politik negara.

https://www.bharian.com.my/rencana/lain-lai...atan-harapan-ph
This is FMT, iykyk

QUOTE

Zafrul, KJ touted as new face of Malaysian politics

PETALING JAYA: In a country where politics has historically been shaped by communal and religious interests, a change may be on the horizon, and that change will be led by Tengku Zafrul Aziz and Khairy Jamaluddin.

Apart from the fact that both men exude a moderate image, their appeal lies in a politics centred on arguments, facts, service delivery, and healthy competition over racial rhetoric, according to political analyst Mazlan Ali.

Rather than framing Malaysia through narrow communal calculations, Mazlan said, both leaders project a vision of the country built on togetherness, tolerance and cooperation.

More than that a political observer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, pointed out that both have delivered on their promises during their terms in the Cabinet.

Tengku Zafrul served as finance minister and later as investment, trade and industry minister prior to his appointment to his current position as senior political adviser to the prime minister and chairman of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

Khairy joined the Cabinet in 2013 as youth and sports minister before moving on to the science, technology and environment portfolio and later as health minister.

Mazlan said both represented a “more convincing” future but cautioned that any change from the old political script of race and religion to one of moderation is still a distance away.

He pointed out that from before independence, political parties were formed largely along racial lines to represent their respective communities.

“We may have changed governments several times since 2018, but the country has yet to fully escape the political script built around race and religion,” he said.

“For instance, Barisan Nasional (BN), anchored by Umno, became very hegemonic until the coalition was defeated in 2018,” he added.

For Mazlan, the first major rupture came in 1998 following Anwar Ibrahim’s sacking from Umno and the government, which triggered the reformasi movement.

The period also coincided with globalisation, rising education levels and the rapid growth of online media, creating conditions for what many scholars have described as the emergence of “new politics”.

Unlike the older model, this newer political culture was less dependent on race and religious mobilisation, and more influenced by information, openness and a flatter political environment.

Still, the old script never truly disappeared.

Despite repeated transitions of power from BN under Najib Razak to Pakatan Harapan (PH) under Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Perikatan Nasional (PN) under Muhyiddin Yassin, the BN-led administration under Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and now Anwar’s unity government — Mazlan believes Malaysia remains partly trapped between both eras.

Even within the unity government, which promotes themes such as transparency, integrity and efficient governance, traces of the older communal playbook continue to surface among some figures in Umno Youth and DAP, he said.

That persistence, he argued, reflects the country’s deeply plural social structure.

In many ways, it also explains why Malaysian leaders continue to struggle to address Malay anxieties without alienating non-Malays or reassure non-Malays without being accused of sidelining Malay interests.

Malay-based parties such as PAS, Umno and Bersatu still rely heavily on Malay-Muslim narratives to consolidate support, particularly on issues involving religion and identity, including recurring disputes surrounding the use of the word “Allah” and claims that Islam is under threat.

Non-Malay parties, including DAP, MCA, MIC and Gerakan, meanwhile continue leaning on communal concerns to maintain relevance among their respective voter bases.

The result, Mazlan said, is a political environment that remains emotionally charged even as the electorate becomes more exposed, educated and digitally connected.

“Although Malaysia is moving towards more mature politics, race and religion continue to colour democratic politics in the country,” he said.

But, he said, Tengku Zafrul and Khairy have emerged as Malaysia’s best bet for a change.

Nonetheless, he added, the change is unlikely to happen overnight.

A more moderate and modern political culture, he said, would require stronger political education, changing social conditions and time for newer voter expectations to fully reshape the system.

Mazlan also believes economic performance could eventually become a stronger basis for national cohesion than the traditional bargaining over race and religion.

Investment, jobs, wages and industrial policy, he argued, offer a far more sustainable foundation for unity.

Its effectiveness, however, still depends heavily on geography, demographics and voter behaviour.

Economic narratives tend to resonate most strongly in urban and semi-urban constituencies, particularly among younger, educated and mobile voters who are directly affected by economic conditions and participate more actively in policy debates.

That, according to Mazlan, helps explain why PH, which leans more heavily into the “new politics” framework, performs more strongly in urban and semi-urban areas.

In contrast, economic performance alone is often insufficient to sway more traditional “subject voters” in rural constituencies, villages and Felda settlements.

These communities, he noted, remain more closely tied to race, religion and long-established political identities.

Mazlan also made the observation that Tengku Zafrul and Khairy’s forward political thinking bears closer resemblance to leaders in developed countries such as Sweden and Australia.

“Zafrul has succeeded in proving his worth by bringing progress to the country without being tied to the agenda of the old political script,” he said.

He noted that while Khairy still operates within the broader framework of right-leaning Malay nationalism, he is gradually moving closer to Zafrul’s approach.

“In the political thinking of these figures, there is hope for a more open future in shaping a new political script,” he added.

<a
Zahid fights to stop Malaysian Bar challenge DNAA

Zahid applies to stop Bar from challenging AG’s move for DNAA

PUTRAJAYA: Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has turned to the Federal Court to set aside a Court of Appeal ruling granting the Malaysian Bar leave to challenge the attorney-general’s (AG) decision to seek a conditional discharge (DNAA) for the Umno president in his Yayasan Akalbudi corruption case.
Zahid, as the second putative respondent to the Bar’s application, filed five legal questions to meet the threshold under Section 96 of the Courts of Judicature Act 1964.

Leave to appeal to the Federal Court is granted only if the case raises novel constitutional or legal questions of public importance for the first time.

Lawyer Shahrul Fazli Kamarulzaman said the cause papers were filed at the Federal Court registry yesterday.

The first putative respondent, the AG, is expected to file his leave application next week.

Zahid, who is also deputy prime minister, and the AG want the Federal Court to reinstate the June 27, 2024 High Court ruling that dismissed the Bar’s leave application.

On May 7, the Court of Appeal ruled that the Bar had crossed the threshold required for the merits of its case to be heard in the High Court.

Justice Faizah Jamaludin, who sat with Justices Lim Hock Leng and Nadzrin Wok Nordin, said the Bar had an arguable case that was not frivolous.

She added that Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah’s granting of the DNAA following the prosecution’s application in 2023 was only a procedural order made in the course of the criminal proceedings.

In January 2022, Sequerah ordered Zahid to enter his defence on all 47 corruption, criminal breach of trust, and money laundering charges after determining that the prosecution had made out a prima facie case against the Barisan Nasional chairman.

Nearly two years later, in September 2023, Zahid was granted a DNAA from all 47 charges pending further investigations into the case by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The case was classified as requiring no further action by the AG’s Chambers in January this year.

https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...s-move-for-dnaa
