Advices for a low tier engineering fresh grad

Hi all,

I am a 3rd year student from local university, enrolled in Mechanical Engineering program. I will graduate next year around May 2021.

I always want to have financial independence at a young age and retire early. The problem is I think that I am incompetent.

- No extracurricular in Uni
- Bad pointer around 3.15-ish
- Typical Malay student- not too bright, slow learner, quite lazy, no soft skills, average English skill.

The only think I am proud of myself is I have a side hustle which can generate around 1k-2k per month.

Last month, I finished my internship in an SME company. It was boring, and the pay is low (as expected). Freshies' salaries in the company are RM 2200-2500. The pay in engineering is also not good. I think I found a post in fb that many engineer with 10 year working experience got max of RM 6k only. I would like to have some advices especially from engineers in Malaysia.

- Should I migrate? And how?
- How to increase the salary in 1 or 2 years?
- What skills should I learn?
- Any advices or hard truth that I should know.
