"Hi! I am Navdeep’s sister, one of the students who perished during the earthquake. I would like to share my experience of completing the climb on behalf of my brother -
Reaching the summit of Mount Kinabalu was one of the most emotional experiences of my life. It was a climb filled with physical challenge, deep reflection, and overwhelming love. Every step I took, I carried the memory of my brother, Navdeep — his laughter, his courage, and his unshakable spirit.
Navdeep was a cheeky and funny boy, the kind of person who could light up a room with just a smile or a quick-witted comment. He was so proud to have been selected for the Mount Kinabalu expedition back in 2015, and he trained with such dedication and determination. Though he never got the chance to reach the summit himself, his presence was with me every moment of the way.
This climb was not just for me — it was for Navdeep and his friends. I felt his energy in the mountain air, in the encouragement of those who climbed with me, and in the quiet moments when the path got steep and my spirit faltered. Family & friends, who knew him and loved him, offered their support and shared their strength, reminding me that grief and love often walk the same trail.
I reached the top not alone, but with Navdeep in my heart. This climb is a tribute to his memory, to his bravery, and to the joy he brought into all our lives. He may not have reached the summit in body, but his soul lives in every sunrise over Kinabalu.

SHAH ALAM, 13 APRIL: Kerajaan Negeri akan memberi tumpuan baik pulih kediaman serta menyelesai urusan sewaan rumah mangsa terjejas kebakaran paip gas di Putra Heights.

Setiausaha Kerajaan Selangor Dato’ Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin berkata pihaknya akan menyelaras perkara itu selepas dua pusat pemindahan sementara (PPS) di Dewan Serbaguna Masjid Putra Heights dan Dewan Camelia MBSJ ditutup.

“Hari ini PPS di Masjid Putra Heights ditutup dan selepas ini negeri akan bantu dan menyelaras sewaan rumah mangsa selain kerja pasca pemulihan,” katanya hari ini.

Sebelum itu beliau bersama EXCO Pengurusan Bencana Mohd Najwan Halimi mewakili Kerajaan Negeri menerima sumbangan RM500,000 daripada Kelantan yang disampaikan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.

Sumbangan itu diserahkan ke Tabung Selangor Prihatin bagi membantu mangsa kebakaran saluran paip gas Putra Heights.

Sementara itu Mohd Nassuruddin berkata sumbangan terbabit sebagai tanda ingatan kerajaan negeri itu terhadap mangsa.

“Hubungan Kelantan dan Selangor sejak dulu lagi malah ketika musibah di Kelantan, Selangor membantu.

“Kejadian ini juga turut melibatkan tujuh keluarga berasal dari Kelantan, ada cedera tetapi semua selamat,” katanya.

Single mum returns S$30 donation to Malaysian politician

A single mum who was recently injured after stepping into a gutter at a hawker centre in Penang returned the RM100 (S$30) donation she had received from Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Youth Deputy Chief Tan Yang Pang.

Ms Vijayesri returned the money through Berapit Village Chief Lin Qixian (transliterated from Mandarin), Oriental Daily reported.

Through the village chief, Ms Vijayesri also asked Mr Tan not to use her suffering for political hype.

In a statement, Mr Lin said Ms Vijayesri felt helpless and angry about being involved in political agenda.

He explained that she initially accepted the donation out of goodwill, but the other party did not fulfill its promise to bring medical staff to see her and used her accident in a video attacking political opponents.

“She therefore decided to return the money to show her position and dignity,” Mr Lin said.

Mr Lin shared that the single mum remains in the hospital.

After hearing that Mr Tan failed to bring medical personnel to check on her, state assemblyman Heng Lee Lee’s team arranged to send medical staff to see her and took her to the hospital on Wednesday (2 Apr).

Had she been brought to the hospital later, medical staff would have needed to scrape off rotten flesh in her wound.

Mr Lin added that Ms Vijayesri’s foot injury worsened and did not heal immediately due to diabetes, making her condition critical.

He said this was the first discovery from the pilot project after the department signed letters of intent to cooperate with 11 local universities.

He added that excavation work as of the 8th of this month has revealed the entire west wall of the temple, half of the north and south walls, and the staircase structure at the bottom.

“The research team also found inscriptions and pottery fragments at Pallava. The site is believed to have been built between the eighth and ninth centuries AD, a similar timeline to the Bujang Valley and Srivijaya period.

"The statues and artifacts found at the site will be brought back to PolyU's Center for Global Archaeological Research for conservation and further research."

The second phase of excavation of the remaining structures of the temple will resume in December.

PolyU Vice-President Professor Datuk Abdul Rahman pointed out that PolyU will continue to work with the National Heritage Department to conduct more excavations at archaeological sites to further expand archaeological tourism products.

“There is still much to be explored in the Bujang Valley as we need more time for excavation work.

"More importantly, these discoveries will allow us to review historical events as written by Western historians."

At the same time, Nassar said the findings raise new questions about the cultural relationship between the Bujang Valley and other ancient civilizations in Southeast Asia.

“This site is special because most of the ruins were found in Bujang, south of Mount Jelay, that is, along Sungai Mobo and Sungai Muda.

"Bukit Koras is a completely isolated site located north of Mount Jerai. We were surprised by the discovery of the largest ancient Buddhist temple ruins."

He consulted, suggesting that there was a large population near the mountain and that it was once a promontory before the sedimentation process that resulted in the current coastline about 8 kilometers from here. We hope to discover more soon.

KUALA LUMPUR - Kelantan dijangka menerima bekalan air yang sempurna menjelang 2023, kata Menteri Alam Sekitar dan Air, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

Beliau berkata, ia berikutan terdapat proses pembesaran dan naik taraf di beberapa loji air utama yang sedang dilaksana di negeri itu di bawah Rolling Plan 4 (RP4) Rancangan Malaysia ke-11 (RMK11).

“Isu besar yang berlaku di Kelantan adalah masalah sumber air, (serta) pengambilan sumber air bawah tanah lebih daripada 50 peratus dan menyebabkan kos rawatan sangat tinggi.

“Kerajaan telah pun meluluskan peruntukan baharu untuk kita membuat penambahan (dan) pembesaran loji di Kelantan dan pengurangan NRW (kadar air tidak terhasil) yang agak tinggi di Kelantan,” katanya pada sesi soal jawab persidangan Dewan Negara hari ini.

Beliau menjawab soalan tambahan Senator Dr Ahmad Azam Hamzah yang ingin tahu sekiranya masalah kualiti air di Kelantan dan masalah bekalan air yang sering terputus di Pahang dapat diselesaikan jika tarif air dinaikkan.

Dalam pada itu, Tuan Ibrahim berkata, Pahang adalah antara negeri yang kritikal dari segi kedudukan kewangan kerana tarif air yang telah lama tidak disemak.

Berikutan itu, beliau berkata, kerajaan Pahang dijangka melakukan migrasi kepada kerajaan pusat pada Oktober ini supaya dapat menyelesaikan hutang yang ditanggung oleh kerajaan Pusat.

“Di Pahang, semakan terakhir tarif air ialah pada 1983... 37 tahun Pahang tidak pernah menaikkan tarif air dan Pahang merupakan negeri yang paling rendah tarif air iaitu 79 sen pada setiap meter padu,” katanya.

Terdahulu, menjawab soalan Ahmad Azam yang ingin tahu sebab kerajaan Pusat mengarahkan kerajaan negeri menstruktur semula tarif air, Tuan Ibrahim berkata, purata air di Malaysia adalah rendah iaitu RM1.39 bagi satu meter padu berbanding purata kos sebenar iaitu RM2.35 bagi satu meter padu.

Beliau berkata, kos itu ditanggung oleh operator air untuk membekalkan air kepada pengguna dan keadaan ini menyebabkan operator berada dalam keadaan kewangan yang defisit dan sukar untuk mengekalkan perkhidmatan berkualiti.

Oleh itu menurutnya, Kementerian Alam Sekitar dan Air (KASA) telah memperkenalkan Mekanisme Penetapan Tarif Air yang mempunyai ciri-ciri seperti penyeragaman struktur tarif sedia ada dan pelarasan kadar tarif sedia ada.
