Hi,

I am trying to find a minimal setup that would allow me to try out or learn SQR.

So far my search leads me to the installation of a full suite of Application from Peoplesoft or Oracle BI +

There were suggestions that I could get the Oracle VM for it but it's behind Oracle support pay wall.

I don't need the full functionality of the Business Intelligence suite just the SQR part and use Oracle Express DB

Any ideas?

My Pc spec is as.my signature.

The issue started with a random screen flicker 2 weeks ago.

It escalated yesterday to the monitor frequently lost signal to the point that I can't do anything on it.

It will always happen after extended use of the Gc like gaming.

Gpu-z does not show any irregularities with the temp.

Remote desktop does not show any issue.

I've tested on 2 different monitor, gives the same result.

Other than RMA the Gc. Any other test that can be done to pin point the.issue.?

Using hdmi or Dvi gives the same.result.

Tq.

Disposal of Old Furniture, etc.

Hi,

I have some old broken furniture and other unusable household appliances that I want to dispose.

Anyone know any disposal service around Hulu Klang? What is the average rate for these services?

I've got some ads from the net, but I want to have options as these services seem to be dependent on the drivers availability.

The ads that I got ranging from RM120 - RM200 for driver & truck, manpower RM40 - RM70 per head. Are these prices the norm?

TQ in advance.

Windows 8 Installation and Windows Update

ver. Win 8 Pro

Hi,

I did a clean install.

During the process, I forget when (sorry), my PC reboots (beeping) to a blank screen.
Then my monitor indicates that there are no signal and sleep.
But I see that the HDD led is busy. So i waited it off and ~5 minutes later my PC reboots, showing the bios screen and goes into Windows.

I thought that was the end of it until I did a Windows Update and restart. I see the update windows message, then blank screen.
Waited 10-15 minutes, boot into bios screen and into Windows, updates installed.

I am sure that this black screen thing is not a proper behavior.

Googling does not return adequate info. Some says its probably my GC driver. I've tried the driver on AMD and the default driver when installing Windows. Same thing.

Any ideas?

TQ
Logitech G430

I recently bought a Logitech G430.

The main feature of this product is the 7.1 surround sound with the use of the USB adapter provided with the package.

Issue:

The sound driver sometimes would fail and stopped responding. It will happen when there is a significant gap between sound process.
For example, i can play mp3 on start all day, stop and play again, no sound and the sound driver stopped responding.

I tried disabling other sound devices (Realtek, AMD, etc), did not resolve the issue.

Reinstalling the driver did not resolve the problem

I tried on my laptop. It works perfectly.

Any ideas?

Unwanted cats

As topic.

I've been living alone for 2 years in my house, my family decided to move to KL back then but i decided to stay because of my work. I normally don't give a shit to cats loitering around my house as long as they don't get in the way or make unnecessary mess.

Then comes a day as i was going to work i ran over a kitten while reversing the car. It give me chills seeing a kitten struggling for its life. After that, every morning I tried using the garden hose to scare them off or making loud noises by pressing the accelerator. That whole week i ran over 3 kittens.

That was earlier this year, now the same cat came and decided to breed again. I ran over one today, and frankly speaking the feeling of guilt just not there anymore, but the gruesome image still can get to me and its affecting my performance at work.

Now i turn to you forumers to give me some ideas to get rid of these cats.

And no, i don't want them as pets. I don't even feed them.

Hi,

This document was given to me by a colleague and I have never confronted with such problem before.

This is regarding the following document, downloaded from MOSTI website
Webpage Link

Document : Proposal & CList Form

Doc Direct Link

Im using Office 2007 to open the document.

Office 2007 opened the document in Draft Mode, and it cant be changed to Print Layout. No idea why. I can't print it in draft mode (even using advance print option) or convert it to pdf using shell. Adobe will encounter an error in the process. I have no problem printing other documents btw.

It was out of curiosity that I tried to opened it in Office 2000 on an old PC. It works, i can view it in Print Layout and i can print it.

The question i want to ask is how can i make it work in Office 2007?

TY

Logitech G15 Keyboard

I just bought the keyboard. In the package it has no manual just a big piece of instruction for installation.

Plug it in, install software. And you are done. Well it doesnt work for me

I notice is the OS failed to install the keyboard. Lots of driver issues with the USB HID which keeps refreshing the device manager page forever.

Then i restart the PC, the keyboard itself works during the BIOS (the numlock lights up and i can use it to choose OS) but went dead in Windows. i have 2 OS (Vista and XP) same problem in both.

The backlight is not on either. So i pressed the backlight button, keyboard turns on...driver all no problem. So guys how? Faulty keyboard or driver problem?

Displaying Data in DataGridView

Hi,

Im using DataGridView in Visual Studio to display all my queried data from Access DB. The problem is, the performance when displaying the data. I notice slowdown to a point of the application "Not Responding" (actually if u let it as it is it will eventually display) which is not nice.

The result for now ~15k records, and that number will grow.

Im looking for suggestions here on how to efficiently display all the data.

Thx in advance.

p/s: I used debug checkpoints after the result fill the Dataset. Its just took about a second. But it takes a long time when it reach the when i set the DataSource for the DataGridView.

Bios detects HDD but not Windows

As the title,

The HDD in question is one of the 120GB Maxtor. I was just browsing around and then felt a sudden lag, so i restart the pc. During boot BIOS detects the HDD but not in Windows. I check with the Computer Management->Storage, the hdd is not listed. So i downloaded Seagate disc wizard, and in the listing of HDD...ITS THERE. I practically changed the SATA slot/cable, still the same. I tried to add the HDD using the wizard, but it requires me to delete the partition and format....which i dont want. All my medias are in there.

Can someone help?

My spec as my sig

I never noticed it b4 since i faced no problem since i bought it a year ago (the proc is new, bougt it last week). Just when i burnt my seagate hdd (another hdd bump on the controller board, one of the chip burnt), i took a closer look at my pc.

During boot up, the proc fan spins then stop for a second and spins again full speed. The PC just boot normally even when it stopped for that moment.

I checked with hw utilities (nvmonitor and everest home edition), voltage lvls seems ok. Fan speed ok. My GC didnt report of low voltage. So anything wrong? and, can i claim warranty for the hdd? My friend already gatal tangan want to dissect the hdd.

Im using Cooler master 500W PSU.

DSL 520T settings for streamyx

I just bought a D-link DSL-520T a few minutes ago, replacing my Aztech DSL6605E.

Im using the same configurations as the Aztech modem but i cant get it to connect.

At the wizard I chose:

step 1: Timezone +8 GMT

step 2: PPPoE/PPPoA

step 3:
username@streamyx
<pwd>
VPI 8
VCI 35
Connection type: PPPoE LLC

after the modem restarts...the status just keeps blinking, check the status page "waiting for response". Its been like that for a while now, so i switched back to my aztech.

Any streamyx user of this modem mind share their config.

note: the reason i want to change my modem is the aztech tends to hang a lot. After 3 aztech for the pass year with similar problem, i think i need to try a different brand, hence the d-link.

My hdd failed today, at 1st i thought it was windows suddenly hang but when it restart the hdd no longer detected in BIOS. Not only that, when i touch it, i cannot feel any vibration and its getting cold....i think its dead.

So is there any recovery center here that can extract the data inside? Is it even possible or i should just forget about it and buy a new one?

Damn, so many data in there...thank god the important old ones got back-up, but the new ones...

I frequently used that HDD to USB adapter to move files around, and my friend said its not safe, can any1 confirm this?

I dunno if its my PC, or VS Studio itself or my codes.

Here is a what i do to read;

Open connection

cmd.CreateCommand ="SQL"

dbreader = cmd.ExecuteReader();

while(dbreader.read())
{
//read DB access
}

dbreader.close()

Close connection.

Here is a what i do to edit or add;

Open connection

cmd.CreateCommand ="SQL (UPDATE or INSERT)"

cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();

Close connection.

Here is what happen:

i made an authenticate table for username and password, i add a record initially and plans to put additional record during run-time.

In development environment while the program debugs, i can add new records, even test them in the program. I even checked the Table using MS Access, it contains the new records. but when i debug the program again, all the data except for the initial data that i inserted earlier disappear. So i tried the .exe file in the released folder, it works as exactly what i want it to do, nothing wrong there.

Few other occasions that happen is the program was working in development environment but when the program is deployed (on the same PC) it failed to query any data from the DB, i used try-catch{Exception ex} to see where the problem lies, no error. But when i deployed it on another pc, no problem.

Anyone mind telling me what's wrong?

Registry tweaks

Im trying to build something like xptweak, that manipulates registry to change how the windows behaves.

I have no problems regarding adding/modify keys and values into the registry, its just that some registry entries require the system to restart. For example,

"NoDrive" :- which i use to hide the a drive from explorer need the system to restart. Which btw, if anyone can help me, the drive is still listed if you open a save/open file dialog, if there is a way to hide it there as well do tell.

"NoRun" similarly needs restart even if you change the value in regedit

whereas some registry like

"DisableTaskMgr" or "DisableRegistryTool" takes effects immediately.

Is there a way to avoid or a way around the need for system restart?
I wanted to do a fix installation of XP, not a fresh copy. When the setup asks for the partition to install to, it says that my drive C:\ format is not supported and it requires format. I dont want to format as thres is a lot of important files in there, and i dont have any spare space to move them over to the other HDD. I've been using the same XP CD since last year, and did fix installation a couple of times when i change my MoBo, so why not supported now?

All my HDD drives are NTFS.

edited:- My bad, fixed.
Force Shutdown in c# or c++

I want to find out how to force shutdown a pc. There are system calls but they always stuck at an save file dialog invoked by MS Word or any other app. I tried by killing the process but the system still waits for the dialogresult but this time any buttons u pushed does not take effect (the dialog just disappear and the pc shuts down). Anyway to solve this?

Winrar archive

I've downloaded a CD iso in a winrar archive format spanning from .r00 to .r76. Extracted it on a few ocasions, but yesterday i got "CRC failed, File is corrupt" msg. I did a test on it using WinRAR own tool, resulted in no errors detected. Copied to a few other PCs, same msg. What went wrong here? How to solve?

The error sometimes on a single file .76 and sometimes the iso itself. Ive tried redownload the .r76 file but same, so what now?
