Plan to build up my back wall to 6' high. Behind neighbour does not agree as his house is lower than mine by about 3'. From what i have checked is that i am allowed to build up to 6' on my side. I am not touching his wall and building on my side. Has anyone faced this type of problem before?

Semi-d Reno Penang Advice Needed

Starting reno for my place in Pg. Planning to build a back porch to cover the back garden. Area about 11ft to wall by 20 feet. Thinking of covering to wall as there is not much use for the back garden. I want to use tiles as less noisy when rains. Doing another patio at side as well around 15x15ft but still have 6ft clearance from side neighbour.

From what I was told by contractor, i need plans drawn up for council to approve. Most of the neighbouring houses have done the same thing. I have a neighbour behind as well.

Any idea what the price for such plans costs? And what are the complications if i don't submit. Was told if council comes by, appeal and submit plans then.

Need advice, thank you in advance.

Home Renovation Inquiries

Hi there, I am planning on doing renovations to my house in Penang. It's a double story semi-detached with a land area of 3200sf. Current built up should be less than 2k sf. I am thinking of extending the side and back of the house by about 6-8 feet as I find the interior is a bit small but still maintain a decent sized garden. For flooring I think I will use wood laminate. Kitchen will need to look around for someone to engage. Bathrooms also need to be done. I am currently overseas and plan to come back to Penang for good end of this year.

Can anyone recommend me a good contractor on Penang Island and how much do you think it will cost for the extensions? Project is Botanica Ct phase 1. It's a nice project but I find the built up a bit small hence the extensions. Also should I get an architect to do the plans for approval. Thank you in advance for any suggestions and info given.
