Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of Spanish LaLiga regulations on player registration.

As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.

Khairy took to Twitter to highlight the article by The Star titled “Malaysia to allow child marriages to go on, but tighter enforcement” written based on Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s parliamentary reply.

“This is misleading and unfair to DPM @drwanazizah who answered my question this morning in Parliament. She clearly said Malaysia is moving to ban child marriages.

“Until those laws can be amended, there will be tighter enforcement of said existing laws,” he wrote on Twitter.

In her reply, the DPM said there were plans to amend two laws next year to tighten requirements for child marriages in order to protect minors who enter such matrimony.

Dr Wan Azizah’s deputy, Hannah Yeoh, also responded by thanking Khairy and criticising local media outlets.

“Our Malaysian media really need to be more diligent in understanding the issues and more ethical in reporting headlines. I have never been this frustrated. Malaysians — read beyond headlines please,” Yeoh wrote.

PETALING JAYA: National mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying claimed their second title of the year after triumphing in the US Open.

The Rio Olympics silver medallists notched a 21-19, 21-15 victory over Germany's Marvin Emil Seidel-Linda Efler at the California State University in Fullerton on Sunday (June 17).

Peng Soon-Liu Ying won the Thailand Masters in January but fell short in adding a second title when they settled for runner-up at the Australian Open last month.

With the victory, Peng Soon-Liu Ying have become the first Malaysians to win the mixed doubles event in the tournament's history.

Up next for Peng Soon-Liu Ying is the Malaysian Open from June 26-July 1.

What are the pros and cons of buying a new car now?

I've not bought a new car before, only ever bought used cars. Now thinking of getting a new car for my wife since hers is pretty much due to be scrapped. As we have kids, I prefer she drive a better and safer car to ferry our babies.

Seems like car dealers are quite eager to close sales now with discounts and rebates. Also, given the risk of price increases next year due to our decline Ringgit value have pushed me to consider getting the car now rather than wait.

Would love to hear from knowledgeable car sifus here... please guide this confused one. Thank you.

But I was wondering, is there a better alternative to AvantGo?

Great thing about AvantGo is NST & The Star is also in it, would have appreciated more pages inside them though.
