Buccaneer 250i

So I bought my first bike - china-made/malaysian-assembly italjet buccaneer 250i

Im a new rider. got my b2 license back in 98 but ride kapchai like 5 times, never owned a bike. saw nasir haris promo video of the bike and thot eh this bike looks good (unique). would be good for a tank depan/clutch bike for learning

so paid around 14k for the bike, 1k for gears and started riding here and there, most of the times by myself. met a handful of other owners here in johor (like, 5 of them). teh tarik session once, that was it

as for the bike, heres my 2 months review:

1-this is NOT a performance bike, albeit the 250cc engine. its a lifan 17hp, youd be struggling for 110-120kmh. top at 130-140kmh but the stock upright position will make it hellish

2-nimble, excellent for city ride. but for long trip hiway ride and if you are pressed for time, youll be SEVERELY disappointed as LC and YSUKU whizzes pass by

3-tubed tires means forking extra for the tube, and the tire and tube are not something most workshop will have (tayar/tube moto jaguh/virago)

4-other key parts are scarce as well

5-so the bike is touted for custom cafe racer look. indeed, lotsa cosmetics available from online store

so if you ask me, menyesal ke beli? nope! being a new rider, i thoroughly enjoy riding here and there. and being recreational rides (rather than using it for daily commute), hopefully the maintenance will be far and apart to not hurt my wallet

Programming for Windows (Win32?)

Greetings

I want to start learning to code for windows (native?). Mainly building simple apps and later building specific apps to read from hardware (using provided sdk - comes in different flavors - c++/c#)

So Im asking all the oldtimers here, what would be a good start? Im well versed with PHP and Adobe ActionScript. And what IDE would be excellent?

I downloaded Mono/GTK# and start playing around with a bit of C# yesterday. Not too difficult to grasp the basic, albeit the whole syntax turnaround (as opposed to ActionScript)

Many thanks in advance to everyone for sharing

p/s: I put (?) because im not sure .net is a "native win32". Truth be told, the whole win32 programming is uncharted territory for me, so forgive me for all the incorrect terminologies

Laptop repair shop

I couldnt find a general guideline for this issue here, so this new topic

I got a 4yo @ris laptop, with a fried gpu chip (ATI mobility radeon), so the screen is filled with artefacts all the time now

knowing that the company that distributes/handles the warranty and repairs no longer exist, is there any chance i can get it fixed in a 'general' laptop repair shop?

yeah, im fully aware of the:

'no spare parts available'
'laptop need very specific parts'
'aiyah, thats a very OOOOOLLDDDD model'
'buy new one even cheaper than fixing that junk'

issues, so im just pushing my luck if anyone knows a place i can get it fixed

thanks in advance

Funny real moments

I decided to put this here instead of Jokes Heaven because its console related (if not suitable, mod, feel free to move it )

These 2 incidents REALLY happened to me! I'm not making them up

1 - I was showing FIFA08 on my 360 to this fren of mine. He got FIFA08 on PS2 at his place. He said "wah, your grafix is better than the PS2 one la...". And i was like

2 - Was playing GTA VC xbox on my 360. My flatmate never played the game, so he asked about it. So i showed him the deal la: playing this guy, hijacking cars, shooting ppl, completing missions. Then he said "so ko ni orang jahat la? (so youre playing the bad guy la?)" And i was like

hehe, seems like im creating a topic everytime a new demo comes around

anyway, tried the demo just now. its brazil vs england

personally, i like the new character modeling. and i can understand if you guys hate it (just like i like the new sf4 art direction; many ppl hate it)

control works well. the new ninja like skills (running on walls) is pretty slick, and imho, wont kill the game for its non realistic nature

will see if the final product has lots more to offer before considering it a buy

pretty sure many of you have already downloaded the demo

my impression from the demo:

1. gfx is ok, character model especially controlled player aint so hot

2. one shot melee kill using the knife is not implemented well. ended up using knife all the way for easy kills! imho, the melee kill should only available during/in stealth only la, once you're exposed, it should be temporarily disabled

3. weapons feel allright (but i personally dislike dual wield, even in halo)

will wait for proper reviews

WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008

(ey sorry for startin this topic, cant find one for 360, there are some for other consoles, but i reckon they wont be much of a help)

rented this game the other day. my first time playing a wrestling game

imho, its not that bad, and i think it would be great game to play with a couple of frens (i'm finding co-op - local or live, a very important thing these days!)

the question is: is the 2008 version a better buy, or should i just get the 2007 cheap from the bargain bin?

reason i asked is, is it true that the 2008 targeting control very sloppy compared to 2007? found this quite true when playing the royal rumble mode. however, the reviews said the 2008 wrestlers lineup is much better

2007 - end of year shopping list

(mod, if this is redundant/cheesy/too useless, please delete ok?)

its the end of the year shopping list! way too many good games already out coming up, so maybe its interesting seeing what ppl are getting.
for me, last month was FIFA08 and its worth it

anyway, heres my list (with short explanation and probability of getting):

+ Naruto: Rise of a Ninja - been a fan of the manga since 2000, its only fair to relive everything from day one (70%)

+ COD4: Modern Warfare - great graphic, and gameplay according to review. problem is, its another shooter (40%)

+ Assassin Creed - waiting for full review. really dont want to upset jade (40%)

+ Mass Effect - so far, looks promising. wait for full review (30%)

not in list:

- Scene It? - not enough frens to play. real frens

- Conan - tried the demo. rental at best

- Jericho/Time Shift/Blacksite Area 51 - most probably average shooters (despite all the gimmicks)

- Rock Band/Guitar Hero 3 - felt silly tapping/hitting some plastic buttons as substituted to musical instrument. these music games are fun, but not really my taste

- Project Gotham Racing 4 - tried the demo, its wonderful. if i havent got pgr3, sure buy this one

- NFS: Pro Street - tried the demo, it's downright horrible!

- Ace Combat 6 - tried the demo, visually stunning! gameplay may be repetitive: lock-on, shoot missile, lock-on, shoot missile. but imho, need the flight stick to TRULY enjoy this

- Simpsons Game - Not really a die-hard fan to buy it, but I'm sure its one fun game

what about you guys?

p/s: try to refrain from arguing each other tastes k?
