THE LONGEST RUNNING ANIMATED SHOW

The Guinness World Records committee recognized the anime adaptation of Machiko Hasegawa's Sazae-san manga as the longest-running animated television series in the world on Thursday. On the same day, a ceremony was held to commemorate the event, with Midori Kato (voice of the title heroine Sazae) accepting the award.

Katou commented on the event, saying, “This is such a famous award throughout the world, so I'm excited. I've been doing this for 45 years, so when I see this award knowing that people all over Japan have been watching and that Fuji TV has watched over this work, my heart is full of emotions.”

The anime adaptation of Machiko Hasegawa's Sazae-san manga began airing in 1969, and the show celebrated its 45th anniversary of airing this year. The anime has had over 2,250 episodes (with about 7,000 short stories) as of September 1, and constantly ranks high on the Japanese TV rankings.

In addition, a live-action drama special adapting author Machiko Hasegawa's life is scheduled to air in November. A special retrospective on the past 7,000 stories will also air this fall, along with the fourth live-action special starring Arisa Mizuki as Sazae.

*The recognition was given on 5th September 2013, expected to be seen in Guinness World Record 2014 edition.

...unfortunately, this anime never been aired in Malaysia. And after spanning almost 2,250 eps with 7,000 short stories, the old episodes will NEVER EVER get a DVD, Bluray or anything related for the future. Why? Because the creator of the original manga, Machiko Hasegawa before her death, she requested that there will be no home video release for Sazae-san. And they still respected that will until now.

However, fans of the anime had posted the anime in various video sharing site such as Youtube. But finding older eps back in the 70s is actually very rare.

Sazae-san also is also known to be the only anime in Japan that still used cel painting in the animation process. Even as we moved to HD, the cel was captured by using digital camera.

Banned Anime Episodes?

Well, when I was searching for MAD videos of Chuu2byou, I found a Youtube discussion about banned episodes of Pokemon. Both Japan and US had ban some episodes (4-5 episodes I guess) due to sensitive topics like racism, sexual innuendos...and epileptic seizure. Remember the cases of Japanese children were sent to hospital due to epileptic seizures cased by a Pokemon episode named Electric Soldier Porygon (Ep 38) that flashes several colors of lights at the same time, Pikachu's start it first and after the bomb explodes it created several lights in fast pace that can induced headache and seizure for some children.

I also remembered some banned episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura here in Malaysia...probably the ones that involves Yukito and Touya.

Anyone knows any banned anime episodes in Malaysia and the rest of the world? Just curious you know~

Set in Showa era in the 60s (1966) where jazz are up and rising in Japan, competing with rock and roll and the invasion of Brit Rock n Roll such as Beatles and Tommy Steele~

Music by Yoko Kanno and Yuki (former Judy and Mary duo) and directed by Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Macross Plus).

The April issue of Takeshobo's Manga Club Original magazine is revealing on February 20 that Uzu's Shiba Inuko-san four-panel manga will receive a television anime adaptation. Voice actress Mikoi Sasaki confirmed that the announcement was also made on television late Tuesday evening.

Inuko Shiba acts like a seemingly ordinary middle school student, but her friend Chako Ishibashi always wonders if Inuko is a dog. Still, to maintain their friendship, Chako does not voice her doubts out loud.

Uzu began serializing the manga in Manga Club Original in 2010. More information about the anime will be revealed in Manga Club Original. (src: ANN)

Just heard about Malaysia entrance to participate in World Cosplay Summit 2011. I don't know if this news important or not to our local cosplayers out there, but I just need to pass the news to you guys.

well, since the chaos at the T-shirt thread (concerning about the copyrighted designs etc.), something came out of my mind...

WHY DON'T WE HAVE AN OFFICIAL MASCOT?

with our own mascot, copyright is not an issue anymore. We can use it on anywhere, t-shirts, websites...you name it (as long it's related with /AS/). I've been interested in drawing a mascot with a name, style and attitude. Since this is Anime Shrine, and looking at the t-shirt design, I'm interested in designing the mascot in miko outfit.

Others can try to design our mascot too if you're interested~

but still, I still need your opinion about this. Do we need an official mascot? If not, why? If we need one, how?

Note that if you're agreed to have our own mascot, please state on the designs that you like, and how it should be.

I'm doing this because /AS/ is growing and people already know us as one of the anime circle in Malaysia. We can establish, boost and expand our influence with an official mascot, so what I'm thinking~

Odaiba Gundam Wedding

I, apparently, am not the only one alive today who wants to have a Gundam themed wedding, but unlike this lucky couple, I will not be able to have a wedding under the life-sized Gundam at Odaiba. Seriously, this is one lucky couple, since they were fortunate enough to be chosen out of a list of 500 couples. Shibuya 246 reports that this couple is so madly in love with Gundam that they named their newly born daughter “Seira”, which isn’t a Gundam character; but Seirra from Gundam 00 is, or it could be Char’s sister Sayla, either one of them.

Anime adaptation of a light novel series (author Kagurazaka Atsushi & illustrator Koike Sadaji) surprisingly featuring the antics of a group of baseball playing schoolgirls in the Taisho period (1912-1926).

In 1925 (year 14 of the Taisho period), after being told by a baseball player that women should become housewives instead of going to school, two 14-year-old Japanese high school girls named Koume and Akiko decide to start a baseball team in order to prove him wrong. During this time, when even running was considered too vulgar for women, baseball is known as "what the boys do" and they face many difficulties when searching members, getting permission from their parents and when learning about the sport itself.

The novels are set in 1925 when two 14-year-old Japanese high school girls named Koume and Shōko decide to start a baseball team in Japan where few baseball teams — male or female — exist at the time. First though, the two girls have no clue where to find nine players, how to use the equipment, and what even the rules are.

Personal comment: While I'm typing this, I'm downloading the current episode 5 from Doremi-Fansubs. The story is good, with all the historical facts presented through the eyes of these girls. If you love historical-themed anime such as Oh Edo Rocket and Samurai Champloo...probably you should try to take a look at this anime~

well, in order to understand TMIS (Telekom Malaysia Internet Service) product such as Streamyx, dial-ups such as 1515/eznet1315/1215, WiFi@Home, BBPhone, Netmyne, Streamyx WiFi and many more, I need your feedback in order to be prepared with problem solving when I hit the floor and start answering calls. Since I'll be doing Technical training on Monday, 27th July until next week, I try to use this opportunity to help you guys with some probs related to streamyx and other TMIS product.
