Please refer to the thread here for the applicable charges.

^You are allowed to transfer only RM5,000/day* from your account through MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers executed online. However, you can increase this limit from the defaulted RM5,000/day to RM40,000 if you bank with HSBC and HSBC is the only bank that offers such high limit in Malaysia..

*The daily maximum IBG limit for both AmBank and UOB Bank is RM10,000.

***/``MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers (ATM)
ATM MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers offers a very limited choice of banks which you can transfer your money to. Please refer to your bank for the detailed list of banks available for Interbank Funds Transfers via ATM.

***Besides the limited choice of banks available which you can transfer your money to via ATM MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers, many banks do not even offer MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers service via their ATM. HSBC for one, doesn't offer this service via their ATM.

MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers (Over the Counter)
There is no limit on how much your can transfer your money out through MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers over the counter. However, your bank may impose a maximum limit per transaction. Standard Chartered for instance, imposes a maximum limit of RM9,999/transfer at only RM0.50/transfer. Let say you want to transfer RM12,000 to Maybank, you will have to do it twice. Basically it means you have to pay RM1. Please refer to your bank on the terms and conditions for MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers initiated over the counter.

``MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers (Phone Banking)
Not all banks offer MEPS Interbank Funds Transfer via Phone Banking. As far as i know, Standard Chartered is the only bank offering such service for the time being. Therefore, please refer to your bank if they offer Interbank GIRO service via Phone Banking.

``Do take note that your account comes with a daily cap of RM5,000/day for MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers initiated online, via ATM or Phone Banking. However, you can increase this limit from the defaulted RM5,000/day to RM40,000 if you bank with HSBC and HSBC is the only bank that offers such high limit in Malaysia.

Citibank Hong Kong, China and Taiwan also changed to this new look website last week. Eventually all Citibank website will look like this.

[attachmentid=1847502]

Hong Leong Bank is Acquisition Hungry

Just over a month ago, Hong Leong Bank made the headlines that it might merge with Affin Bank as Guoco Group upped its shares in Hong Kong's Bank of East Asia. Earlier this week, it is reported that they are bidding for the 47.6% shares in Siam City Bank the Thailand's Central Bank is going to dispose. Now they have resumed talking with EON Capital shareholders about the possible takeover as it gets nod from Bank Negara.

Should everything proceeds as Hong Leong Bank wished, it will become the third largest bank in Malaysia by the number of branch, fourth largest by total deposits and fourth largest by assets.

QUOTE

Hong Leong Bank to explore EON Cap equity deal

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) may acquire assets and liabilities, including equity interests, in EON Capital Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, HLB said the banking group had received Bank Negara’s approval to commence negotiations with certain shareholders of EON Cap.

HLB, the country’s sixth largest lender, said the central bank had no objection for it to commence negotiations with certain shareholders of EON Cap for potential acquisitions in EON Cap, the parent company of EON Bank Bhd.

HLB did not disclose specifically which shareholders it would approach to start the negotiation, saying it would make further announcements.

“A detailed announcement will be made in the event a definitive agreement relating to the above proposal is signed,” HLB said in the statement.

Primus Pacific Partners Ltd, RH Development Corp Sdn Bhd, Kualapura (M) Sdn Bhd, the Employees Provident Fund and Khazanah Nasional Bhd are among the substantial shareholders of EON Cap.

HLB has a network of 199 branches and sales centres, 17 business centres throughout Malaysia, and one branch each in Singapore and Hong Kong.

In December 2008, it became the first Malaysian and South-East Asian bank to obtain a licence to incorporate and operate a 100%-owned commercial bank in Vietnam.

It reported a 3.23% decline in net profit to RM234.21mil and a 7% drop in revenue to RM511.68mil for the first quarter ended Sept 30 versus a year earlier.

EON Bank has 139 branches. For the third quarter ended Sept 30, it posted a 9.3% increase in net profit to RM75.3mil compared with RM68.9mil a year earlier while revenue was almost 2% down to RM598.9mil versus RM611mil previously.

For the first nine months, net profit surged to RM279.5mil from RM68.1mil while revenue slipped to RM1.8bil versus RM1.9bil earlier.

HLB added four sen to RM8.30 yesterday while EON Cap gained 18 sen to close at RM6.58 after hitting a 52-week high of RM6.65 in intra-day trading.

- Source : STAR

QUOTE

KUALA LUMPUR: BNP Paribas comments on Hong Leong Bank’s announcement yesterday that it has obtained the approval of the Malaysian central bank to commence negotiations with certain shareholders of EON Capital for a potential acquisition.

BNP Paribas analyst Ng Wee Siang said in a note issued today he has gathered that two major shareholders of EON Capital - Rin Kei Mei and the Tiong family - are willing to sell their equity stakes at RM8.20 a share.

Their combined stake will allow Hong Leong Bank to own up to 32.5 percent of EON Capital.

Hong Kong-based private equity fund Primus Pacific Partners owns 20.2 percent of EON Capital.
Malaysia’s largest pension fund, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), owns 10.7 percent of EON Capital, while Khazanah, the government’s investment arm, holds 10 percent.

At RM8.20 a share, Primus Pacific Partners is unlikely to sell given its entry cost of RM9.55 a share.

Hong Leong Bank may take an asset-sale route, which only requires a simple majority - a 50 per cent plus one EON Capital share majority, in terms of value. Khazanah and the EPF are likely to support the deal given their low entry costs of less than RM6 a share, said Ng.

We prefer EON Capital given the potential price upside.

If the M&A crystallises, the initial M&A phase may not be as easy as expected, leading Hong Leong Bank’s share price to languish. Reiterate BUY on EON Capital.

Given this development, we raise our target price on EON Capital to RM8.30, based on 1.5x - a valuation threshold that we think EON Capital would be transacted at.

- Source : Reuters

QUOTE

Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) (5819) plans to start talks that may lead to the takeover of EON Capital Bhd (EONCap) and catapult it to become Malaysia's fourth biggest banking group by assets.
HLB, currently the sixth biggest in terms of assets, received Bank Negara Malaysia's approval to start talks with "certain shareholders" of EONCap, which is ranked seventh.

"(The talks are) for a potential acquisition of the assets and liabilities, including equity interests in EONCap," HLB said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

HLB did not say which party it would talk to, but sources told Business Times that it was not Primus Pacific Partners Ltd, the Hong Kong-based investment firm which holds 20.2 per cent of EONCap.

This means that HLB may be talking to Singaporean businessman Rin Kei Mei or Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King.
Rin holds 15.46 per cent, while Tiong has another 17.11 per cent.

"We note that Primus came in at a high price and may require a high price to exit. There are also rumours that its substantial shareholder, Rin, wants to sell his stake," OSK Research Sdn Bhd associate director Chris Eng said.

In February last year, Primus bought a fifth of EONCap from DRB-HICOM Bhd for RM1.34 billion, or RM9.55 a share.

Other big shareholders of EONCap are the Employees Provident Fund (11.9 per cent) and Khazanah Nasional Bhd (10 per cent).

EONCap's share price was at a two-year high yesterday, closing at RM6.58, up 18 sen. This gives it a market value of RM4.56 billion.

Shares of HLB rose 4 sen to finish the day at RM8.30. HLB has a market value of RM13.11 billion.

A combination of HLB and EONCap would create a group with total assets of RM121.41 billion. This means that HLB would be able to leapfrog RHB Capital Bhd, currently fourth biggest with assets of RM110.5 billion.

- Business Times

However, i believe only the Islamic arm of foreign locally incorporated banks are allowed to install ATM outside their branches such as HSBC Amanah, OCBC Al-Amin and Standard Chartered Saadiq.

HSBC Amanah
- Suria KLCC
- Sunway Pyramid
- KL Sentral

Al Rajhi Bank
- Mydin Wholesale Hypermarket Subang Jaya
- Plaza Angsana
- Langkawi International Airport
- The Curve
- Penang International Airport
- Denco Industrial Corporation Berhad
- Plaza Mont’ Kiara
- Kompleks Antarabangsa
- Tesco Prai
- Tesco Selayang
- The Gardens at Mid Valley
- Bangsar Village II
- Bukit Bintang
- Suria KLCC
- KL Sentral
- One Utama
- Sunway Pyramid

According to the message i got from HSBC online, more HSBC and HSBC Amanah branches will be set up in the next few months. Besides the three confirmed places that they will install an ATM, you can expect to see more HSBC Amanah branded off-site ATM soon in other places.

HSBC and HSBC Amanah ATM cardholders can use the HSBC Amanah branded off-site ATM free of charge. OCBC Bank, OCBC Al-Amin, UOB Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Standard Chartered Saadiq ATM cardholders may also access the HSBC Amanah branded off-site ATM and each successful withdrawal will be charged RM1.
