Foreign Currency Account

Hi all,

here is my situation. I think I will probably needs Aussie dollar in the next say 5 years time. My plan is to convert some fix monthly amount.

I went to Maybank. They said FCA is only for :

1. If you have kids already studying there. need to show supporting document

2. Business

3. If you want to open a fix deposit with that denomination.

so no choice I chose option 3 (it was after much persuasion and haggling)

I asked, for option 3, I first have to convert from MYR to AUD. In five years time, I would like to send these money to Aussie. I asked do I need to convert back these FD from AUD to MYR. The bank officer said no need. can transfer my AUD directly to Aussie . She don't look convincing.
I just do not want to do a double conversion MYR-AUD-MYR-AUD when I cash out.

Anyone of you folk have experience with FCA in Malaysia?

in singapore it's so easy. I can just convert to any denomination without issue and restriction. In fact I can enable and perform all these transaction online. And can just use apps to make purchases overseas.

any advice? thanks

How to maintain aluminium powder coated gate
Hi guys,

I have these powder coated gates for like 3 years maybe. Now it started to look faded. What more can see some strange pattern.

Previously I was using steel but it started to rust so I thought alright aluminum gate should be OK. But I guess everything has its issues.

So how do you maintain it? I called the supplier they suggested some lubricant. Frankly I don't know how that would solve the problem. Sure it looks OK for a while after 1 month then the kubrictan starts to dry off so it back to square one.

Home Improvement from Shoppee or Lazada

Frankly I am nuts for home improvement. Sometimes I find the solution from the China people are quite amazing. Cheap too and never would have thought it existed too

Here are some of mine. Would like to hear about yours too.

First time bought a bed direct import from Shoppee.. Quite happy with it. Else I would have spend more than 1k

Bought a led outdoor light hang around my tree. Looks good. Solar so. I don't need any wiring and safe.

Bought capacitor for my fan. Change myself save few hundred for fan. Total I think I have changed like 5-6 already. Massive saving.

I have always wonder if rats or vermins can claw itself it not my washing mashine outlet. Until I found this from Shoppee.. Now I don't worry anymore

Got this bidet for all my toilets. Helps a lot to keep the toilet clean and dry. Kids love it

Change 2 of this already. Last time need to call plumber to come. Now can pretty much diy. Safe a bunch and it's neat. No odor coming out.

Got this shower head. It helps increase the pressure. Also safe water. How it works is the narrows the outlet so less water more pressure.

Installing Dash Cam on New Car

Hi,

was about to sign on the dotted line then found out car does not have a dash cam. I don't mind paying for it, but what about the warranty.

i have some experience installing dash cam. bascially its:

1. you tap to the ciggrette plug - very ugly - deal breaker for me

2. you tap to the distribution box, this will require a car fuse and a conversionn kit

i asked the SA they said, so long as dont touch the wire then its ok. what does it mean by that?

if its no 2. will it void the warranty?

i am a little cautious on this as i read long time a go a car manufacturer void the warranty when the car caught fire.

i asked the SA, they said "it ok", go to Dasher to install it.

anyone have expeince with this.

car is KIA

thanks

Toilet Renovation Design

Hi all. My 8-9 years old house already have leak at the toilet. It's affecting the opposite side of the wall.

The contractor gave us 2 suggestion.

1. Just do external piping. Easy. - wife don't want

2. Hack the tiles to try to find the leak. Problem is i contacted the tiles supplier they don't produce those tiles anymore. So it will be weird if I use a different tiles on some spot.

You guys face this situation before?

Are there any smarter way to do it? Or maybe different tiles design solution?

Thanks.
