Other than ATM withdrawal overseas, I'm trying to brain where Bigpay can offer advantage over normal CC if I decide to go Bangkok tomorrow for whatever mischievous reasons.

Example, UOB charge 1.00% foreign exchange conversion markup
Bigpay also charge the same 1%

maybe their rates are a bit better la.... but by how much?....
after banks clamped down on e-wallet cashbacks, i havent been able to think of a worthwhile use for it....
now, thinking of just cancelling it if it doesnt even serve much purpose for overseas travel.

Thinking of getting one to reduce humidity because I saw that the rh was nearly 70% when it was raining.
Are those peltier type dehumidifiers like this or this which are spec' around 500ml-1L/day of water collection too weak and meant for closets/toilets or will they be ok for smaller rooms (15m3/160sq feet)?
Not using it to for drying clothes just bring down the RH.

Job offer advice,

Hi all, need some career advice from those in engineering consulting.

Current situation (still a fresh graduate):

A. Current company (local consulting firm)

- RM3,950 gross salary
- 12 days annual leave
- Basic insurance only
- Almost no allowances / limited medical claims
- Sometime long working hours and stressful at times

B. New offer (well-known MNC consulting firm)

- 18-month graduate programme
- RM3,500 basic salary
- RM300 monthly travel allowance
- Profit sharing (~RM3.5k estimated yearly)
- 18 days AL + birthday leave + other leave benefits
- Better medical coverage (dental, optical, hospitalization)
- Flexible working hours
- Hybrid working arrangement (2 days WFH)
- Bigger company with stronger global branding

Main dilemma & opinion:

- Current company gives higher monthly salary
- MNC seems to offer better overall benefits and possibly better long-term career growth
- Concerned about joining a graduate programme after already starting work elsewhere
- Also unsure about long-term stability after the programme

For those with experience in the industry:
1. Is it better to gain more experience at my current company and then apply for a better position, instead of “downgrading” to a lower base salary with an unguaranteed permanent role conversion after the graduate programme ends?
2. Is moving from local firm to MNC consulting worth it early in career?
3. Would you prioritise higher salary now or stronger career exposure/benefits long term?

Thank you!

Attending a Chinese wedding tomorrow, Don't feel like giving an angpow

To be clear, I'm not trying to avoid giving an angpow because I'm a penny-pincher, or I can't part with my money.

Rather, given the economic uncertainty, and personal family financial struggles, I'm looking at RM200 and thinking that's a lot and I can stretch things out both for the family, and myself financially with that amount.

I'm attending a longtime friend's wedding tomorrow, and while I am incredibly happy and honored to be attending the dinner, I'm feeling a lot of pressure from trying to meet this silly Chinese custom of having to give an angpow of no lesser value than RM150-200.

Personally, if I held a wedding and invited guests, I wouldn't expect angpows from them either.

I've only attended one wedding in my lifetime, that one wedding happening last year where it was incredibly intimate and easygoing. My first friend is incredibly westernized and didn't want any of that silly Chinese custom bs, I asked her what she wanted for her wedding gift, she said "Pokemon TCG," off I went hunting something at a reasonable price.

Meanwhile, this wedding tomorrow is large, grand, and luxurious. I doubt the newlyweds care much for the angpow, they just want the people they cherish to be there. But when you put conventional + rich together, clearly these folks are intent on putting on an extravaganza in the name of "once in a lifetime."

The scariest part is realizing there may be a reception table where people register your name and track the amount of angpows received, who gives X or Y amount.

I am close to both the bride and groom, but I am not involved in any of the other intimate events other than giving a speech.

I've consulted both Chinese and non-Chinese friends, and most non-Chinese friends have urged giving what I can. ~RM50-100 is enough, even if the dinner cost is higher. Some even said there's no need to give given my financial circumstances. Some Chinese friends also feel like the practice is dated and incredibly silly, with someone leaving at "it's your choice."

Can I attend this wedding and not give an angpow, genuinely?

PropAgent/Contractor come in, Please help!

streamable.com/kiunwr - please watch the video first and come back later if needed

Need some advice regarding rental deposit refund in Malaysia. Don't know where to ask.

Hi all to all the PAKAR/EXPERT, in a dilemma here..

My tenancy officially ends on 1 May 2026, I already handed over the house and keys back to the owner on 30 April 2026. The owner’s agent came to inspect the unit, checked everything, took photos/videos, and already reported back to the owner.

The issue was the wooden flooring has rotted and we patch up using floor mats/seal the leakage with tapes etc, it reeks of foul smelly smell and if we didn't do anything about it, it would be unlivable. ALREADY INFORMED IN a year in ADVANCE to the owner but all he says is OK. No action taken. Other than that, the house was handed over in good condition. His contractors came and told him that we are the ones that "Carelessly" spray water unto all the laminated board and thus causes all these damage. I find it absurd. We are living in the soho. How does it make sense that we will purposely damage the unit to this extend? All we did was cover all the affected area with floor mats + tapes(So the smelly rotting water don't seep out and affects the whole unit).

It’s now 11 May 2026 (11 days since handover), and the owner still hasn’t refunded the deposit or given any proper update. I already sent polite messages asking for updates regarding the refund, but he has been unresponsive. Just blue ticks. Called and no answer.

Also, regarding the wall = The most severe saturation is along the wall-to-floor junction beside the toilet wall(black moist patch) . The moisture spreads outward from that wall into the room, not randomly across the floor. There are visible staining and dampness on the wall itself(beside toilet) , which indicates water is coming from behind or the wall.

The flooring shows signs of water coming from underneath, not just surface exposure. This pattern is consistent with seepage from the toilet area (such as waterproofing or internal leakage), where water travels through the structure and exits into the bedroom.

It is not consistent with surface splashing(alleged) , as that would result in irregular surface marks and would not cause concentrated seepage along the wall or internal wall dampness.

Based on the visible evidence in the video, this issue clearly points to a source from the toilet side

From a Malaysia rental/property perspective:

Is this considered normal?
How long is considered a “reasonable” time to return deposit?
At what point should I start escalating?
What are my options if the owner keeps delaying or ignoring?

Would appreciate advice from landlords, agents, contractors or anyone familiar with Malaysian tenancy situations.

P.S: Above are the attached video. From the video itself, from 32-35 seconds(TOILET IS RIGHT OPPOSITE THE WALL) = you can see that it clearly stems from the wall. Is it my(tenant) fault? This place is known to have leakage problems and the flooring part of in front the toilet has already been replaced once before we move in.

What Is the Official Income of T20 Group?,

Is there a government official website which indicates the income for groups B40, M40 and T20? I also notice there are also T15, T10 and T5 groups which just emerged lately in the news? I'm specifically interested to know the income bracket of the T20 group.

So far, CIMB bank website which is rather reliable indicates as follows:
https://www.cimb.com.my/en/personal/life-go...ade-simple.html
B40: Below ~RM5,000/month
M40: ~RM5,000 – RM10,000+/month
T20: Above ~RM10,000+/month

On other websites or blogs, it's different:-

https://www.stashaway.my/r/b40-m40-t20-t15-malaysia
B40 (Bottom 40%): Households earning up to RM5,351
M40 (Middle 40%): Households earning between RM6,560 and RM11,161
T20 (Top 20%): Households earning above RM11,819

https://madeinmalaysia.com.my/malaysia-b40-...classification/
B40	- < RM4,850
M40	- RM4,850 – RM10,959
T20	- > RM10,960

https://ebantuan.my/t20-gaji-malaysia-beza-t15/
B40	RM4,360
M40	RM4,361 – RM10,970
T20	RM10,971 ke atas
T15	RM12,000+ (dikaji)
